Big takeaway was that Pick 6 was not on Bryant. At the back of his drop all rushers are engaged and Badie is open. Wallace Simms allows the defender to peel off his block and sniff out the throw. With quite a few missed blocks and holding calls Simms did not have a good game.
Garrett is a stud and a leader. He lines other people up. On one play he reads the run, Bolton runs into him and he pushes Bolton forward to tackle the running back for a 3 yd loss. Both are almost always in the right plays and puts himself into throwing lanes.
The line overall was out of sync, . Particularly on pulling runs, which is why Badie had such a bad day. They pull around and almost stop in front of the runner. Pass protection got more solid as the game went in.
Mizzou blitzed Bolton on the long TD. SC blocked it up well and Edwards is an athletic reciever. Surprisingly Elliot peels back and has a shot at him, other than that no one is unblocked.
Bryant seems to target Nance alot, I would say he becomes the top WR. Badies TD to on the first second half drive was a screen against a heavy blitz, Simms does a good job getting out to block the corner
On the pick 6 Garrett would have had a pick on an accurate throw, Perkins is there and sees the route. Great scheme on the play as said before.
Byers makes the solo strip and fumble recovery on the next drive. No points off but big play from a young guy.
Kinlaw is a sick defensive player. Lined up on Simms and eats his lunch on multiple plays. Including a tipped pass and sack after the fumble. And drives Costello into Rountree on 3rd and 19.
Some more positive rushing on the FG drive. The line seemed to get better push until the goal line. Gotta get better at the goal line and in the redzone.
In the next series our DTs absolutely dominate in passing situations and our back 7 give no where to throw. Elliot and Whiteside both get a sack.
After that it's pretty much prevent defense giving up half the yds previously allowed for the day.
