…I’m honestly not entirely sure that Cook is the better option. Full disclosure, Macon has to get away from the sidearm throws, but he made just as many throws as Cook did and looked very good in the pocket.
I’m still in the “bring in JT Daniels” camp, because I think this offense has enough weapons to mitigate an immobile QB who can make all the throws…but Macon impressed me yesterday. If he had been allowed to actually run without being tagged down, the outcome might have been different. Checking the stats, he was right there with Cook and made some impressive throws.
I’m not going to pretend to be an expert analyst, because I’m clearly not. Just an observation in watching the game a second time. I definitely have issues with Macon’s delivery. However, outside of a skilled transfer QB, I think he might be the best option. He didn’t have LB or a starting OL, to be fair.
Considering all of that, for him to put his team in a position to win the game is very impressive. His drive to potentially tie the game was unexpected, to say the least.
