I believe he was also a high profile candidate and finalist for the position. However, his family is very happy in Oxford, he has close ties to Archie Manning and his prior relationship serving under Alden probably was viewed with concern by the new administration.
While I am not a big fan of Mr. Alden he has gotten us into the SEC, dramatically improved football and some of the non-revenue sports. His somewhat aloof nature and corporate speak has alienated many of the alumni. I for one hardly believe he doesn't have his eyes set on a commissioner position or perhaps being involved in the NCAA.
Good luck to Mr. Mack Rhodes I admire his fund-raising abilities and his willingness to help rehab Kelvin Sampson- a good coach who made some careless mistakes(pale when in comparison to Jim Boehm). Hopefully he will be able to resurrect our ill basketball program however he seems is the appropriate manner. I call for all of Mizzou to get behind him!
