Hate to see bad things happen to good people. Odom was one of the leaders in the late 90s for Smith on the bowl teams, and I really wanted to see him succeed. But he wasn't ready, and it showed in his game management, coaching during games, and ultimately in game prep. I think Lock bought him one more year with the masking of many issues last year, but this year it was too much to overcome.

Odom will get another shot at a head coaching gig in the next year, I am sure. He has a bright future but needs to develop more first. I hope he sees this as an opportunity to invest more in his career at the DC level or a mid-major HC gig, and can move forward. Sucks to fire an alum, but for Mizzou this is the right decision in my mind and I am glad to see the AD take a bold step now rather than wait yet another year.
