Enjoyed today's luncheon in St. Louis. 100 or so attendees and I think Drink shook every single person's hand. Took every last question. The guy is the energy bunny - just hope it translates to wins soon as we're all rooting like hell for him. A few takeaways and I'd be interested to hear others in attendance perspective.
Horn: Drink seems quite concerned he's considering MLB. Just a read I got. Mentioned if Mizzou was further ahead on NIL that he'd feel a lot more confident. Not trying to sound the alarm but my read is this is a real concern.
NIL: Drink was very clear that the fans need to spearhead this. He said he's "heard" that perhaps there's something coming in the next 10 days or so where us common folk can contribute in some fashion. I felt his plea to the room was that if we're going to compete in this league we need to get it together on NIL. When asked how we "stack up" he responded "we don't even 'stack'". I personally want to do everything I can to get this off the ground for the common fan (not corporate dollars which sounds like is in the works). Reached out to a fellow PM'er whose an attorney and he mentioned the Laurence Bowers initiative but wasn't sure if that's more for the big dollars or not. I searched far and wide on Google to get a contact for "Advancing Missouri Athletes" and found a number where I was transferred to a generic voicemail for a guy named Thomas. I want to find out if what's "in the works" is geared toward common fans crowdfunding to the best of their ability (PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, etc). That's what I think can move the needle and maximize Mizzou's position in the NIL world. Maybe I'm crazy but I want to do what I can to help. If anyone can put me in contact with someone from Advancing Missouri that would be great. If they already are planning something like this then perfect. If not, I'll start doing what I can to get something simple off the ground within the context of compliance.
Hopper (former UF one): Drink is selling him like crazy. Excited to watch him play this fall.
