Bielema up right now, Odom is next. I'll post updates on what Odom says in this thread.
-- Odom asked about a comment he made, saying whoever travels with the team, everyone needs to show leadership. Odom says they spend time building true, trusting relationships with all his players, and at the end of the day, everyone has leadership responsibilities in their own way -- vocal, non-vocal, etc.
-- Odom says time as gone by very quickly since he got hired. Says it all runs together, and then once you get to June, before you know it, you're in preparation for the first game. Said it feels like he was just announced as head coach a few weeks ago.
-- Asked about the element of surprise and how he balanced continuity vs. change, Odom talks about how so many people have influenced him, including Pinkel. But, that was the early part of his career, and Odom has had more influences outside Pinkel that will affect his coaching style. Says it would be "foolish" to not stick with a lot of the things that Pinkel built his foundation on, but he will add some new ideas to take Mizzou to the next level and compete for a national title.
-- A reporter asks if Odom has a policy about players legally owning firearms, Odom says he does. Odom says there are rules for hunting, but they deal with any firearm issue in the program. So, not very specific here.
(A reporter has been asking this question to each coach, FYI.)
-- Odom says Jerod Alton is enrolled at school, getting his classes set and "should be out there today."
-- Asked about non-conference scheduling, Odom said he'll work very closely with Jim Sterk and Brian Maggard. Said they're bringing potential targets to his desk as far out as 2024. Said he wants to keep as many non-con games on campus as possible, but has to balance that with making the games attractive and marquee. Said if you can get a home game, you have to look into it. Said the biggest factor is location and then you narrow it down based on opponents.
