Games today:
Florida at South Carolina
Mississippi State at Mizzou
Auburn at UGA
Ole Miss at LSU
Tennessee at Alabama
Kentucky at A&M
Vanderbilt at Arkansas
The top three teams in the league are on the road. All play winnable games, but in this league, who knows. If Auburn, Tennessee and Florida can win, they create a little space. Auburn and Tennessee would put themselves in excellent shape for a double bye in the league tourney with a win today. Florida can't lock one up, but can take a step toward it.
But if those teams were to lose, mass chaos. For the sake of argument, let's say South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia pull off the home wins. You'd be looking at 10 teams between 7-5 and 5-7, all within two games of each other in the standings with only three weeks left in the season. That's nuts.
If A&M beats Kentucky, you could have as many as five teams at 6-6. I still maintain today is a virtual must win for Missouri. A&M is a tough matchup and playing better. LSU is on the road. Missouri can afford to split those...if it wins today. Tournament teams beat Mississippi State at home. Time to go prove it.
