What are the benefits to the player to be a silent commit?
I understand if they want to still take some official visits to experience it and get the free trips, but oustide of that...why commit silently and then wait weeks or months to make it public? Seems as if committing publicly, especially if you are a top flight player, would help the school put together an even better recruiting class around you.
