Does anyone see any similarities between this team and the team in 2006? Not so much in the way we play, but just similarities in where the program was then compared to now.
In 2006, we had a sophomore QB and a young team that showed great potential, especially on the offensive side of the ball. That seems like a pretty accurate description of the team so far this year. Now, I'm not saying we are going to win eight games this year, but I do think we find a way to get to 6-7 wins, go to a bowl and get some enthusiasm back in the program again.
Looking ahead, 2017 could set up to be similar to 2007. The schedule sets up about as well as you could ask for. Our young team will be one year older and could be ready to make a splash on the national scene.
If that happens, hopefully that will lead to locking down the state in 2018, and having a veteran, stacked team heading into the 2018 season with a chance to do something special. That sounds familiar (2008) doesn't it?
