1. How about that defense? Tennessee had the 23rd fewest giveaways in the country coming in. Missouri was 121st in takeaways. The Tigers made two game changing plays in the form of turnovers and turned both of them into momentum swinging touchdowns. DeMarkus Acy's pick was the biggest play of the season. Nate Anderson's strip and Joshuah Bledsoe's scoop and score effectively ended the game.
2. We don't talk about Missouri's running backs enough. Damarea Crockett had back to back 100 yard games and barely played, carrying the ball three times for ten yards. But Larry Rountree took on a bigger workload (his 26 carries were the most by a Tiger running back this season) and Tyler Badie came up with some absolutely huge contributions and the ground game did enough to help the Tigers control the second half.
3. I don't know if this was Drew Lock's best game, but it was in the discussion. He finished 21/30 for 257 yards and two touchdowns and moved into second all time in the SEC in passing yardage. The numbers would have been better if his receivers didn't get infected by the drops. He took care of the ball. He led his team to a huge win.
4. You looking for an Emanuel Hall replacement? I give you Kam Scott. The kid is averaging more than 30 yards a catch on his seven receptions this season. Give him another year to add some bulk and refine his route running and he's got a nice future.
5. This team has come a LONG way. They played pretty well, but absolutely not great. And they won an SEC road game by 33 points. Did they leave some on the table this season? Sure they did. But this is a good team. And it's one that I think might enter the top 25 after next week's games.
6. Speaking of next week's games, just six days remain in the regular season. Missouri gets Arkansas, owners of an 0-7 SEC record fresh off a 52-6 loss to Mississippi State in which many Arkansas fans thought the effort might have left their team for the season. That should be a win. I'll be very surprised if it is not. That would make Missouri 8-4. That's the record I predicted before the season and the mark I said would show tangible and irrefutable progress.
