For the second straight game, we have allowed the opposing team to come out with a sustained long drive to open the second half. 17 plays 8:19 against SD and 14 plays 6:21 against MTSU. By time Mizzou was able to score on their first drive of the second half and just the second total drive of the second half, there was only 4:58 left in the 3rd quarter.

By comparison, the 2nd quarter Saturday only had TWO TOTAL drives. (Three if you include the one play kneel down by MTSU). So from the start of the 2nd Quarter, to 4:58 in the third, when Wease made that incredible TD grab, there had only been four TOTAL drives. Once again, showing how the new clock rule really ads up when you sustain drives. Second game in a row with only 20 total drives. Last year almost every game had at least 23+.

Mizzou needs to make sure they get the ball to start half number 2 and if they don't get off the field early. Both of those sustained drives eliminated lots of time for the offense to run up the score how we truly wanted them too.

(This is by no means an excuse. I still am infuriated over the coaching inadequacies, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Not getting a First down on 3rd & 1 and then 4th & 1 cost us going up 20 points IMO. Just pointing this out to show that CFB games are going to be closer than they have been. Check out UK vs Eastern Kentucky, Tennessee vs Austin Peay, etc.)
