I am loving this for so many reasons!
1st off, I don't like Dawn Staley and I don't like her team... I'll admit that part of this comes from they're running feud with MU's women's bball team... But also, I just don't like how she runs her team... I never like those always angry, always upset, always ready to yell at the kid b/c I'm the coach and I can kinda coaches.
2nd, it annoyed me that SC won the women's title last year when they didn't even have to play Connecticut to do it... If they didn't keep saying it on ESPN's commercials, most people probably wouldn't even remember that SC won the title last year b/c the game everybody remembers is Mississippi St.'s incredible upset over Connecticut... MSU is who shoulda won the title last year, but beating Connecticut took so much out of them in the semifinal that they had nothing left for the finals... SC didn't even really play well in that title game, but MSU was so drained they really had no fight left... It was one of the easiest championship game victories ever, and SC didn't deserve it.
And that's why I love Geno Auriemma... B/c u can tell he sent his girls out there tonite to let SC know, we have no respect for the
championship u won last year... We wanna make sure u know that we know u can't beat us, u have never beaten us, and u will never beat us...
And 3rd, the best part of this is the absolute anguish on the face of Dawn Staley... As I'm typing now, Connecticut just made another layup to go up 74-44... 30 POINTS!!!... UConn has a 30 point lead on the defending champions and the game is still in the 3rd quarter... And I bet u Geno won't even think about taking his starters out till they're up by 50... It's so bad that Staley isn't even standing to coach the game anymore... She's been coaching from her seat for like the last 7 minutes... It's like obvious she's given up and knows they can't win... And it's so lovely.
Only thing that woulda made this better is if this was MU delivering this whoopin'..... Hell, I would take if we could go back to that game earlier this year when there was almost a team fight and that girl pushed Sophie Cunningham in the back and, most people don't know this but Sophie is a black belt in karate, and I woulda loved it if she woulda shown that girl what kinda black belt she is... I guess this whoop ass tonite will have to do...
