Hear From The Tigers

Burnside on today’s pair of victories…

“It was big for us to bounce back from last weekend and get these two wins today. Comeback wins are always nice and I think it shows a lot about what we are capable of. Hopefully we build on these two wins and come out tomorrow and continue what we are doing.”

#MIZ Takeaways

·After a rough stretch in their final two games last weekend at the Kajikawa Classic, the Tigers’ offense bounced back Friday with vengeance and collectively hit .355 with 19 runs, four doubles, one triple, three home runs and 16 RBI.

·Mizzou’s offense also produced an exceptional 1.000 OPS (.597 SLG%, .403 OBP) over its two victories.

·Pierce led the way individually with a 6-for-8 (.750) performance at the plate with one home run. Her back to back three-hit performances tied her single-game career-high, previously set on Feb. 27, 2016, against Oregon.

·The Tigers recorded seven total multi-hit performances Friday, highlighted by Pierce, Nash and Burnside with two apiece.

·A pair of pitching performances keyed each Mizzou win, as Baumgartner was outstanding in relief against USF and Rice closed the door against UMass Lowell. In the nightcap versus the River Hawks, Rice entered the game with Mizzou trailing 4-3 in the fifth inning. She went on to limit UMass Lowell to one hit and zero runs over 3.0 innings of work, allowing the Tigers’ eventual comeback win.

·Mizzou’s 10 runs in game one against USF marked its second double-digit run output this year. The Tigers also produced 11 hits in each game today, as they have now eclipsed double-digit hits three times this season.

·With the season still in its early period, Tiger “firsts” continue to occur at a regular basis. Friday, Callie Martin launched her first career home run, Abby George produced her first career hit and Hatti Moore tallied her first career RBIs.
