#MIZ Takeaways

·The Tigers’ 3-0 shutout over UTEP marked interim head coach Gina Fogue’s first career win at Mizzou.

·Mizzou’s 19 runs scored in its victory over CSUN marked the program’s highest single-game run output since March 16, 2007, vs. Columbia College.

·Cayla Kessinger entered this season with a 10-game hitting streak, stemming back to the end of the 2017 campaign. The Tiger right fielder added on to her double-digit streak with a hit in each game today. The Saugus, Calif., native’s current 12-game hitting streak falls just outside the Top-10 all-time in Mizzou history.

·After missing almost all of 2017 due to injury, Sanchez made quite the return in her first games as a redshirt junior. The Tiger third basemen posted three hits in each game, including three extra-base hits (two doubles and one home run).

·With 13 newcomers on this year’s Mizzou roster, Friday marked a day of firsts for many new Tigers. Ellison, Nalani Scates, Brooke Wilmes, Delaney McDannold, Edwards, Kara Decker, Rice, Callie Martin, Hatti Moore, Daniel and Abby George all made their debuts in black and gold in the doubleheader.

·Overall, Tiger hitters recorded eight multi-hit efforts and six multi-RBI outings in a strong day at the plate. Mizzou was also active on the basepaths, as six different individuals posted one stolen base apiece.
