1. Imagine what this game would look like if Fournette played: LSU's running backs have combined for 227 yards rushing and three touchdowns and that's without one of the best players in the country. Derrius Guice might be the second stringer but he was a top-20, 5-star recruit by Rivals out of high school. Not bad for a backup. So who knows how bad this would be had he played. Which brings me to my next point.
2. Even though Les Miles isn't coaching and Fournette isn't playing this is still LSU: LSU's backups would be starters at Missouri at multiple positions. This is still a blue blood program. Can't say all of this is a surprise. The talent on their sideline easily exceeds Missouri's. Not that Missouri hasn't beaten teams with that before but to say Missouri still had an advantage without Miles and Fournette is silly.
3. Ish Witter has been the best player on offense so far: After sitting behind Crockett for the first series or two he came in and had 19 yards on two carries. Haven't seen much from Damarea Crockett so far. But Witter has 25 yards rushing and had a 19-yard gain off a short pass from Drew Lock. He's earned a few more carries for the second half.
4. The defense hasn't been great but they must be exhausted: Missouri's offensive drives haven't exceeded a minute or two. I've watched informercials longer than that. LSU has had 5-to-7 minute drives that have followed up a short stint on the field from the offense. Have there been missed assignments? Yes. Have they missed tackles and a few picks (Donavin Newson dropped what would have been a pick-six or excellent field position)? Yes. But the offense certainly isn't giving them time to catch their breath. That's only making things worse.
5. Off topic but this is a hell of a place to see a game: At times I can barely hear the guys sitting next to me. On top of that the people have been wonderful, the stadium is top notch and the tailgating atmosphere is as advertised. I'm no travel agent but to the diehard football fans reading I heavily recommend this place for a game.
