Five of us had a chance to talk to him today about the early signing period (already posted one story from that, we've got 2-3 more coming). It was the first chance we've had to meet him outside of the press conference. Thought I'd offer up some thoughts:
He does not lack confidence. He believes in what he's doing and he has a plan.
He has some personality and some quick wit that I think will come out as he gets to know us a little better. I think you'll see some amusing answers and maybe a little smartassery (I say that with admiration and respect, not disdain) in some of his answers. He doesn't waste a lot of time with meandering answers. He answers the question to the point and he's done talking. A little like Cuonzo in that regard. It may change when we get into asking him more about the personnel and the team and such, but my first impression is he's going to make his point and be done. As someone that has to transcribe these interviews, I appreciate that.
I think he'll be good with the media and fans will like the way he comes off and presents himself in interviews. That may change when he loses a game, but he seems to know how to handle the questions. We'll see if it remains the same when the questions are less polite or less intelligent.
Still hope to get him on the pod down the road so you guys can get to know him a little better, but just some initial impressions.
