Four options I hadn't seen mentioned anywhere. I only looked at coaches who are currently serving as both OC and QB Coach for their teams.
EDIT: Just added Sterlin Gilbert who was mentioned on RMN's list.
Jedd Fisch - Also the interim HC at UCLA.
Top 25 Stats in 2017: Total Yards per Game (#19), Total Yards per Play (#23), Passing Yards per Game (#5), Passing TDs (#14), Passing Yards per Attempt (#24).
Formerly: Passing game coordinator and WR/QB Coach at Michigan, OC for Jacksonville Jaguars, University of Miami OC/QB, QB Coach for Seattle Seahawks, OC/QB at University of Minnesota, WR Coach for Denver Broncos, Assistant QB Coach for Baltimore Ravens, Assistant HC of Houston Texans, Grad Assistant at his alma mater (Florida) under Spurrier.
Certainly the biggest reach on this list and probably already on his way back to the NFL. I just don't see it happening, and I'm not sure he'd be as good of a fit with the current staff (see Walt Bell) or as effective (see Brian Wright) as other options. But he fits the profile of OC/QB.
Walt Bell - Maryland.
Top 25 Stats in 2017: Nothing. It could be because they faced the most difficult schedule according to current Sagarin Ratings (by contrast, Missouri's schedule rank was 67th).
Formerly: QB Coach and co-OC (sharing OC duties with Elarbee) at Arky State, TE Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at North Carolina, WR Coach at Southern Miss. Graduated from Middle Tennessee.
I stumbled across him when looking at OCs who had played against at lot of top-25 teams. Maryland played against six last season, which is why his stats aren't outstanding, though still decent by Maryland standards, especially during the 2016 season. But the connection to Elarbee is what got me interested in digging more.
Brian Wright - Toledo.
Top 25 Stats for 2017: Total Yards per Game (#8), Total Yards per Play (#7), Total Plays (#13), Points per Game (#11, just behind Missouri), Total TDs (#10, just ahead of Missouri), Rushing TDs (#18), Rushing Yards per Carry (#20), Passing Yards per Game (#20), Passing Rating (#5, just behind Missouri), Interceptions Allowed (#13), Passing TDs (#17), Passing Yards per Attempt (#5, just ahead of Missouri), Completion Percentage (#20).
Formerly: OC at FAU, OC/QB Coach at Montana State, OC/QB at Youngstown State.
My favorite option. No connections to our staff, but this is one of the few offenses to resemble Missouri at all. His current QB, Logan Woodside, led the nation with 45 TD passes and ranked 2nd in passing efficiency. This guy is a QB whisperer.
Tony Petersen - ECU.
Top 25 Stats for 2017: Total Plays (#10), Passing Yards per Game (#13), Passing Attempts per Game (#4, not sure that's something to be proud of), Passing TDs (#24),
Formerly: OC/QB Coach at Louisiana Tech (where he was a nominee for the Broyles Award), co-OC at Marshall, Assistant HC and WR Coach at South Dakota, QB Coach at Iowa State, co-OC and QB Coach at Minnesota, WR Coach at Marshall.
Definitely my least favorite on this list. He's older than the others and ECU isn't playing especially strong competition. I wouldn't want him to be OC, maybe just a QB Coach.
Sterlin Gilbert - USF.
Top 25 Stats for 2017: Total Offense (#9), Total Plays (#16, but this is only 11 games, their Plays per Game is now 83.5... that's about 13 more plays per game than Missouri), Points per Game (#16), Rushing Yards per Game (#9), Rushing TDs (#25, only 11 games), Interceptions Allowed per Game (#13).
Formerly: OC/QB Coach at Texas (also under Strong), co-OC/QB at Tulsa, co-OC/QB at Bowling Green, co-OC/QB at Eastern Illinois.
Looks like a good option. Having 13 more offensive plays per game than Heupel at Missouri suggests a pretty high tempo as well.
