HCCM has been regarded as a tough defensive minded coach who's teams many years frustrated by not playing well offensively. It was reported pre season that he brought in an assistant coach on this team that had NBA experience with offense and he would take a different approach. No question he has done that, and there is plenty of offense to go around. They push the ball a lot. They work for open perimeter shots and everyone has the green light. It is not a ploding style for sure.

It is early in the season and they have meshed all these players together, really pretty well, on top of having the best player get hurt. I think they play a great brand of basketball on both ends of the court. Yes, the breakdown last night after being up 16 is disheartening. It exposed a major flaw but it is one they will have sometime now to address and come up with some solutions. On the flip side, WVU really struggled for a good portion of the game with our half court defense and offensively, we shot the ball well, but we worked well against the WVU half court defense. Hell Huggins had to switch to a zone and after a few possessions we ate that up. That is against one of the better man to man defensive teams.

For my money, thus far and overall, I'm damn pleased with HCCM and this staff. And I think they can get a lot better regardless of what happens with MPJ. This is a top 25-30 quality team right now that is going to give other teams fits with our length, defense, rebounding, depth and offense from anywhere in the half court.
