It seems that about all we hear is the 40% drop in freshmen enrollment when there's another statistic that is a much better indicator of how Mizzou is viewed by those already on campus. For this academic year freshman retention was 87%.
So those who know first hand what the atmosphere is on campus voted overwhelmingly to come back. The big drop was with those who probably relied heavily on the news reports about something that directly affected a relatively small number of students.
Also, the average ACT score remained at 26, well above the state and national averages. That means the good students are still coming.
Of course, it's the age-old story, a lot of people always seem to focus on the negative while ignoring the positives.
The other good news that has been mentioned before is that replacing the inept people at the top with new highly qualified administrators is having a strong positive effect.
EDIT: For those who don't click on the link, I forgot to mention that the retention rate is the second highest in history.
