Mizzou as an AD has been in the red for two straight years now.

Even with all of that SEC revenue, football and basketball ticket sales seem to be the determining factor on whether or not Mizzou breaks even in a given year. And while Odom has "improved" the program on a YOY basis, he hasn't brought any excitement to the fanbase.

Any time his program seems to have a hint of momentum, he immediately loses it. Two perfect examples this year.

  • Everyone was jacked for the season with Kelly Bryant. He proceeds to go out and lay an egg against Wyoming. If he wins that game, Faurot is probably sold out for the WVU and USCe games, and the crowds are much better against SEMO and Troy.
  • He rebounds from the Wyoming loss and wins four straight. People start to buy in and we get a Homecoming sell out. What does he do? He loses to 1-5 Vanderbilt. Unless Mizzou wins its next two games, I can guarantee there won't be anything close to a sellout against Florida or Tennessee.
I will be very interested to see what Mizzou's financials look like at the end of the year. Another year in the red, and I can bet that Odom is coaching for his job next year. At a certain point in time, it's not just about performance on the field. Odom has heavily contributed to a budget deficit the past two years. Eventually, the AD is going to have to make a financial decision on whether or not Odom is the right man to lead this program going forward.
