FOOTBALL Speculation with a question

Suppose Odom wants to keep Cross for a variety of reasons.
Suppose Odom wants Grinch or somebody else from the outside to be the new DC.
1) Do we have a coaching slot open?
2) Can the issue above be resolved by making somebody the "associate" head coach?
I have no inside info, nor do I think the above is realistic,
just wondering if it could happen......?
