I was screaming for Cuonzo to come to Mizzou. I thought it was a home run.

I’ve given him some rope because, honestly, I thought the Porter situation set him back establishing his program. Not because they’re bad kids, but because he spent year one and two depending on this matchmaker relationship, and thanks to injuries, it didn’t work out.

So, I thought, instead of year 3 being a year of his developed juniors and sophomores, he was basically starting year one of the actual program he would have implanted had 2 five stars not fell on his lap.

But, and it’s a big but, he has failed so miserably at recruiting, I just don’t see how this makes a turn.

My hope, after the way this year started, was they’d finish strong and have a fun season and then some transfers would see this as a landing spot and maybe he could Frank Haith it for a couple of years until MAYBE this incoming class develops into a backbone of a program.

If that doesn’t happen, next year looks really bleak and then you start that cycle of really having to try and build it again.

Now, in hoops, it can turn on a dime with a couple great recruits. But where are those for Mizzou? Where is the top 50 kid or kids they have a shot to land?

You watch games like last night, and then I watch SLU. I see Javonte Perkins lighting up, how does he land at SLU without telling Mizzou “no?”

How have you not found a shooter? They spend that 13th schollie on a prayer big man or swing man every year. Turns out they have actual ok depth there. Find a scorer, or develop one.
