you might get to meet your team's new QB #1 freshman phenom and his parents.
Our crew in Lot H have done a pre- and post-game tailgate for 11 a.m. starts. Yesterday after the game, we were lingering, enjoying great weather, food, drink, conversation and post-win mood, when I looked up and saw Andy Lock walking along the right field fence line. I recognized him from his Lee's Summit restaurant and Drew's announcement party. Then I realized that Drew and Andy's wife were with him.
Being the shy person that I am, I alerted others in our party and approached Andy to congratulate him and tell him how much we enjoy Summit Grill. Andy and Drew came over to our tents, shook hands with everyone and grinned when we offered them "stuffed gamecock" from our buffet.
Mom stayed in the background and I went over to talk to her and thank her for raising such a polite, genuine young man. She said she was more nervous during the week than she was during the game.
They were headed down the hill to Drew's grandparents' tailgate so they didn't stay long. But our group was pretty excited to get to celebrate for just a few minutes with the star of the game and his parents. They could not have been more gracious and friendly.
