Though the opening ceremonies aren’t until Friday, competition started today in Men’s Soccer and Rugby 7’s.
The US tied favored France in Rugby 7’s pool play and have a match later today with tournament favorite Fiji. They have a good chance to move on to the knockout rounds after the tie with France.
In general, 7’s is a much more accessible product to an American audience than Rugby Union. More open play and higher scoring. It’s exciting to watch.
