Drink said it is hard to plan for new staff in LA Tech and praises new LA Tech head coach Sonny Cumbie.
"So for us, it's going to be us executing what we do best at a high level... then reacting to what their change-ups are," Drink said.
He said that LA Tech has good players and that their record isn't indicative of their true talent.
Drink thanks the admin. for working with them to move this game to Thursday. He said if the game didn't get moved then they would've started three of the first four games on the road.
Said that Nate Peat prob won't be available for 100% of the carries. Cody Schrader has been most consistent and that Eli Young showed he can play. He said they will use all 3 of them until someone shows they can takeover a bulk of the road.
Drink said he's not afraid to show his whole playbook to win the game.
Said element of surprise lasts until the first quarter of the first game.
Said he feels really good about top six WRs. He thinks Brady has a lot of confidence throwing to any of those six. Drink calls it the deepest and most reliable group he had since he's been here.
Drink said that Tyler Stephens was slowed by high ankle sprain in the spring but that his consistency in the summer grew and that he's more and more comfortable in blocking and receiving.
Said that he has a pretty good idea as to what will happen Thursday (as far as who plays and starts).
Said the scout team is just as important as the starters listed on the depth chart.
Said grabbing people in the portal doesn't automatically mean that they will be given playing time. He said that if he plays people because they transferred to Mizzou that cheapens them.
Said that they have to be careful with hype and expectation on LB3... He said that he has confidence in all five skill positions to make a play. Drink also says that Brady needs to make the right play instead of force-feeding LB3 the ball. He's confident Burden can make plays but, again is confident in others.
Said it could be musical chairs if someone on OL goes down.
Notes that Smoke Harris of LA Tech is a player that can present problems in the Air Raid system.
Drink said Tavorus Jones got back last week. He's doing what he can to get caught up but isn't factored into the first set of the game. In his one live carry he pulled his hammy (during a practice). So, they are going to work him into the plans.
Drink said that he spoke to the IFC and Greek members to try and get attendance up and for people to come to games. He wants the best student sections to come...says his focus is how to get students here first because they'll create that hype atmosphere. He won't worry about it come Thursday but he's working with the athletic department to get more people in.
Sean Koetting was named starting punter and Sean was just a little more consistent than Jack Stonehouse. But if it's not going the way it needs to be then Jack will get an opportunity.
He said that KAD will start on punt and kick return and that Burden will see opportunities eventually.
