I want to pass along my sincere appreciation to both Gabe and Coach Cuonzo Martin for a really great experience yesterday. I recently posted about my 16 year old daughter being diagnosed with lymphoma, and receiving an unexpected call of encouragement from Cuonzo after I had emailed him about her upon seeing his own cancer story told by Vahe Gregorian in the KC Star. Last night Riley and I were treated to GREAT seats near the Mizzou bench through Gabe's contacts in the athletic department, after enjoying dinner (on the house) at Shiloh courtesy of another friend of Gabe's. We had a nice chat with both Gabe and Chris Gervino before the game, and afterward had a chance to visit with Cuonzo himself for a few minutes. Coach was very gracious and encouraging and we were so appreciative of the gesture. It was a truly special evening and my daughter had a wonderful time.

Once again, I just have to say that I think we are very fortunate to have Cuonzo Martin as the leader of our basketball program at Mizzou. I think he will do great things, but no wins on the floor will ever mean as much to me as his kindness toward my daughter. We are also fortunate to have Gabe as the leader of PowerMizzou by the way. He is a gentleman and I now consider him a friend. So thanks again to Gabe, Cuonzo, the athletic department, and the guys at Shiloh for an awesome day!! Cancer doesn't stand a chance with this girl.
