OpenSecrets reports that Dems have spent over $44 million so far to help Trump backed republicans win their primaries. These include Penn Governor Candidate, a stop the steal guy, Doug Mastriano.
Further, Dems are supporting a candidate to oust one of the few republicans who voted to impeach trump. They are supporting primary opponent to Peter Maijer. If Dems biggest concern is the threat to democracy, why would they spend so much money supporting these candidate. I know it is because they will have a better shot at winning the general election, but is the risk worth it if you really care about the survival of the democracy. You can't have both argument.
