i did this when my top guy was interviewing at the competition obviously in a much smaller scale but an industry with similar turnover.
Call Odom and say I am going to take care of you. I need to get it approved but you are my number one priority. If we are going to work together there needs to be trust both ways. Shut this shit down right now. I am going to get you $4 million or whatever the number is, but you are just starting to win over the fan base. This is not what either of us need. My guy bought into what I was saying and trusted me and I got him one of the best base compensation packages in the industry without cutting his commission potential. He is happy as can be and I didn’t lose my best guy.
IF Odom agrees releases a statement and says these are just rumors then great go get him every penny you can. If he says I am keeping my options open. F’em if he gets a new job so what go find someone else. If not great you are getting a bargain. But he and Sexton know you will not be held hostage to this shit every year.
