FOOTBALL RECRUITING
***Missouri missed out on Akron offensive line grad transfer Brandon Council, who announced his commitment to Auburn on Thursday night. However, ther is another graduate transfer Missouri is in the mix for in Northern Iowa tight end Briley Moore, a Blue Springs South graduate in Kansas City. Our Kansas State site caught up with Moore on Thursday, who has trimmed his list of suitors to three: Kansas State, Baylor, and Missouri. Currently, there is no timeline set for his decision.
Here is what Moore said about Mizzou: "Missouri is close to home and from what I’ve learned from the new staff is really planning on running their offense through their TEs."
***Fairmont (Col.) defensive lineman Brayden Wood is another target to keep an eye on, as his father told out Louisville site, CardinalSports.com, that Missouri is among his Top 5 schools. Other programs involved include Louisville, Kansas State, Arizona State, and UCLA. Wood has held an offer from Missouri since May of last year. He recently visited Louisville before the recruiting shutdown and he has family ties to Arizona State with his uncle, Ryan Wood, playing football there back in the mid-90's. It's likely those are the two front runners for the three-star prospect currently.
***Cass Tech (Mich.) offensive lineman Raheem Anderson released his Top 11 schools earlier this week, Missouri was included among that group. We're not quite sure where the Tigers stack up among his top group, but it seems Michigan State has the inside track right now.
***Hough (N.C.) linebacker Kaci Seegars is one of the latest Missouri targets, receiving his offer back on April 1st. He's already got a great relationship with Eli Drinkwitz and DJ Smith, who already offered him during their time with Appalachian State, and is looking to visit whenever he can. Kansas State, NC State, and Texas A&M are his other notable offers right now.
***Eau Gallie (Fla.) cornerback Davion Sistrunk dropped his Top 12 on Twitter last night that included Missouri. We mentioned the three-star prospect a month ago as someone who has a lot of interest in the Tigers due to his relationship with defensive coordinator Ryan Walters. He told us he was planning to take an official visit this spring before the current recruiting shutdown, so while many usually scoff at a Top 12 and deservedly so, but it appears Missouri will be a major player for the 6-foot-2, 170-pound prospect moving forward. He's also an All-Conference basketball player as well.
***JUCO TE target Quentin Moore did not include Missouri among his Top 15 schools that he announced on Twitter Wednesday night.
***Missouri also extended a new 2022 in-state offer to John Burroughs tight end/defensive end Tyson Ford, who was one campus for one of the Tigers' junior days on March 7th. Nebraska, Texas A&M, Arizona State, Kansas, and Iowa State are other schools that have offered.
People around the state have mentioned Ford to us as a really high level prospect. Definitely one to keep an eye on locally going forward.
***Coming off the initial 2022 rankings last week, Rivals.com featured some Midwest prospects that could be on the verge of entering the Top 100 down the road. One of those featured was East St. Louis cornerback Ahmad Robinson, who is currently ranked a 5.8, 4-star. Robinson played for Cardinal Ritter last season, but has impressed in a couple of showcase camps that took place earlier in the year. He also visited Missouri for a junior day back on February 1st, but the Tigers have yet to offer. Indiana is Robinson's only offer currently.
***Also featured on that same 2022 list is Demon "DJ" Moore, a 4-star prospect out of Fort Wayne (Ind.) Snider who just picked up an offer from Missouri last month. Indiana and Purdue are naturally in early on him as well.
BASKETBALL RECRUITING
At some point in the next few days, a decision should come from Justin Turner, the grad transfer from Bowling Green.
It seems like people I've talked to feel good about Missouri's chances here...if he indeed leaves Bowling Green. There seems to be a real sentiment that he could choose to just stay where he is. On some level that would make sense since he couldn't take any visits and such. But if you were going to end up doing that, it does seem a little strange to put your name in the portal to begin with. I get wanting to explore other options, but will your teammates think differently of you if you do return? Either way, there does seem to be an actual possibility he simply stays at Bowling Green. If he doesn't, the chatter seems to be that Missouri is in good shape.
I'd look for any spots in this class other than Josh Christopher to be filled by transfers--either graduate or otherwise. I've seen conflicting reports on whether the one time transfer waiver is expected to go through for this coming year or not, but either way, it seems like we could see a grad transfer and a more traditional transfer in this class. And I think more and more, that's the route things might go in the future. Who knows, maybe Frank Haith was just a man ahead of his time by a few years.
