FOOTBALL RECRUITING
- Four-star QB Matt Zollers became the Tigers' first commitment of the 2025 class on Thursday, obviously a massive win for Missouri beating out the likes of Penn State, Georgia, and Pitt.
With Zollers in the fold, will more dominos start to fall? We're always wary of predicting that, but we can tell you the hope from Mizzou for a couple of months has been to get Zollers in the fold and have that lead to an offensive waterfall of sorts. Rivals.com national analyst Adam Friedman gave four intriguing names in his COMMIT STORY ON ZOLLERS, they include Top100 targets Jayvan Boggs, Michael Fasusi, Lamont Rogers, and 2026 OL Jackson Cantwell.
The trio of Boggs, Fasusi, and Rogers were all on campus during Missouri's stretch of spring practices and are scheduled to return to Missouri this summer on official visits. Fasusi has been on campus twice since the beginning of the year.
Landing one would be great, grabbing two would be huge, but landing all three would be epic.
We'll see how it all unfolds.
Also, ICYMI from yesterday, Zollers plans to be an early enrollee.
- Speaking of Top100 WR's, Missouri will host another one today in Donovan Olugbode out of IMG Academy (Fla.). His is good friends with Jayvan Boggs and the Tigers are hoping to lock down an official visit with Olugbode while he's on campus today.
If you're keeping count, Missouri already has five WR targets expected to take official visits with Missouri this summer, that list includes...
Dillon Alfred, Emmanuel Choice (June 7th)
Jayvan Boggs, Isaiah Mozee, Corey Simms (June 21st)
Adding another Top100 talent to this list would be uncanny.
-At running back, Jamarion Parker decommitted from Arkansas and is back on the market. He's visiting Nebraska this weekend. The truth is Missouri has other players ahead of him on the board. The top two on the Tigers' wish list right now would be Dierre Hill and Jamarion Morrow.
-On the offensive line, along with Fasusi and Rogers, the Tigers would love to lock up Andrew Babalola, Jack Lange and Carius Curne. Along with what Mizzou has done on the OL in the last couple of years, that would give you a heck of a depth chart for the next 2-4 seasons.
-Next week, we'll try to run down the most highly coveted defensive prospects heading into the summer official visit period.
- Going back to QB talk, we caught up with 2026 signal-caller Jackson Presley earlier this week. The rising three-star from Montana visited Missouri for their spring game and picked up an offer in the process. He had a lot of positive things to say about his time on campus, which you can READ HERE.
- Sticking with the 2026 class, we also caught up with 2026 cornerback Raderrion Daniels out of Mississippi, who was also at Missouri last month for a spring practice. For that update, CLICK HERE
- We also caught up with 2026, four-star DL Anthony Kennedy, who didn't visit Missouri during the spring, but has been on campus numerous times already. The Arkansas native has already formed a strong bond with DL coach Al Davis, who also hails from Arkansas, and Kennedy said Missouri is currently one of this top schools. CLICK HERE for that update.
BASKETBALL RECRUITING
The movement has been slower here than we anticipated. That's not going to change in the next week. A dead period began yesterday and runs through next Thursday. That means there are no visits and no off-campus recruiting contacts. Most coaches are at the Final Four this weekend anyway. That doesn't preclude commitments or kids entering the transfer portal, but as far as new developments with visits, those aren't going to take place for at least a week.
We remain of the belief that Missouri will add three to four more transfers. Jevon Porter is a Plan A target. There's been no movement at all on his recruitment, but sources around Mizzou and around Columbia have maintained for quite some time that Missouri is a pretty clear leader for him. The only uncommitted confirmed visitor so far is Iowa combo guard Tony Perkins. Oklahoma, Indiana, Ole Miss, Oregon and Arkansas join Mizzou in Perkins' top six. Mizzou is the only visit we know he has taken thus far. Arkansas currently doesn't have a coach (though if word on the street is correct, it will soon have Ole Miss' coach).
If Missouri can land Porter and Perkins, we believe the Tigers will then be searching for a big man and most likely another point guard. We've covered what that could mean for the rest of the roster ad nauseum, but we just have to wait to see how it shakes out. At this point, no other Tigers have entered the portal since the last Chamber.
OTHER NOTES
The Intercollegiate Athletics Special Committee is meeting this morning at 11 a.m. From what we have been able to find out, we do not believe this meeting has to do with a new athletic director--or at least not hiring one. For that, it is going to require a full board meeting, not just the four Curators on this committee. They certainly may be discussing AD candidates today, but there is no expectation this meeting is to hire anyone. We still don't really have a timetable on that. System President Mun Choi told the Columbia Missourian earlier this week that Mizzou is not putting a timetable on it.
"I'm confident that we're going to hire an outstanding athletic director. It may take two weeks, it may take a month. But the key point is, we are not settling. We're going to hire an outstanding person," Choi said, according to the Missourian's Michael Howie tweet. “We're going to hire an AD that wants to stay in Missouri and really help elevate our program to even greater heights.”
How long that takes? Who knows? The committee could also be discussing the North end zone project and/or resolution of the remaining $1.5 million Desiree Reed-Francois owes Missouri after leaving for Arizona. If we get any information on any of this, obviously we will share it with you all as soon as possible.
