BASKETBALL RECRUITING
Let's start off with some hoops. The Tigers will have a handful of visitors in town this weekend from what we are hearing.
Aaron Rowe -- The Columbia native turned 2025 Link Academy point guard is expected to be at Mizzou Arena for the Texas A&M game. Since he's from Columbia and he's been to Mizzou plenty of times in the past, it's not shocking that he''ll make a visit to a big game, but it's always a good sign to get one of the nation's top prospects in his class on campus. Missouri is going to be in this one for the duration.
TJ Williams -- The 2024 shooting guard led Wichita Heights to a state title last year and is playing at Sunrise Christian Academy this year. Missouri has been on him for a while and he has a solid offer list but hasn't blown up nationally yet. He averaged 13 points, 5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.3 blocks as the region player of the year as a sophomore.
We know those two are expected to be here. We anticipate other visitors to be in town as well, but we'll have to keep our eye out at the game tomorrow to confirm. We can tell you that Oklahoma guard T.O. Barrett was planning to make a trip, but had a change of plans late this week. Barrett has already taken an official to Mizzou and has spoken very highly of the staff throughout his recruitment. Missouri is definitely at or near the top for Barrett and we'd expect him to get back to campus at some point.
Again, we think there will be others in town and will pass that news along if and when we can confirm who makes it. The 2024 recruiting won't really pick up until seasons end, but in addition to Williams and Barrett, here are the names we think have the most mutual interest at this point in time:
Dallas Thomas
John Bol
Qin Pang
Annor Boateng
Jarin Stevenson
Marcus Allen
Travis Perry
If Mizzou can fill its class off that list, rest assured, the staff has gotten absolute A list targets in the 2024 class.
FOOTBALL RECRUITING
Missouri has extended a few offers throughout the month of February, but things are relatively slow since it's a dead period. Things will ramp up again in March as schools will be able to host prospects for visits again.
We'll keep you updated with potential visitors as those dates draw closer. There are two targets that have either told us or announced they'll be at Missouri in March, they include the following...
Isaiah McMorris, WR, Bellevue (Neb.) West - The three-star WR has a tentative plan to be at Mizzou on March 17-18. He'll also visit Nebraska and Oklahoma in March along with K-State, Penn State, and Minnesota in April. He picked up an offer from Missouri back in December and is teammates with Tigers' top 2024 QB target Daniel Kaelin. During his junior season, McMorris caught 65 passes for 1,089 yards and 12 touchdowns, averaging 17 yards per catch.
Keelan Smith, WR, Liberty North - Smith was supposed to visit again back in January, but ended up cancelling. He told us he plans to visit in March. The three-star has been to Missouri's campus multiple times already and received an offer from the Tigers back in November. During his junior season, Smith hauled in 46 catches for 845 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Rivals.com released their updated Top250 Rankings earlier this week and there were plenty of Missouri targets represented among the nation's elite prospects. Here is a rundown below, following by a more in-depth article link we posted on Thursday on each.
Ryan Wingo - No. 16, down 10 spots
Williams Nwaneri - No. 20, up 54 spots
Aneyas Williams - No. 108, down 2 spots (Notre Dame commit)
Jayshawn Ross - No. 112, down 5 spots
Tionne Gray - No. 120, debut
Kellen Lindstrom - No. 133, debut
Darrion Dupree - No. 166, down 13 spots
Jeremiah McClellan - No. 183, down 19 spots
Jaden Reddell - No. 207, debut
Andrew Sprague - No. 225, up 16 spots
MIZZOU AND THE UPDATED RIVALS250 RANKINGS
Every player listed above has been to campus at least once. We continue to hear positive movement for Missouri in the Ryan Wingo chase, though it won't be easy. The fact Aneyas Williams came to Missouri''s junior day despite being committed to Notre Dame can't be viewed as a negative. We feel pretty good about the Tigers chances with Tionne Gray and Andrew Sprague. Every player on that list is going to have options from across the country so getting them back on campus for an official visit (likely in June) would be big in Missouri's pursuit.
It's incredibly quiet on the football front right now. There are no visits happening because it is a dead period until March. You may see a few prospects come to town for unofficial visits during spring football, but the next big development with most of these guys will be scheduling summer officials. We'll keep you up to date when that starts happening.
