FOOTBALL RECRUITING:
We'll start with some news and notes;
- After evaluating Collegiate (Va.) tight end Trey Boll during Mizzou's bye week, the three-star prospect committed to Wake Forest on Wednesday.
- Olive Branch (Miss.) offensive tackle Xavier Hill decommitted from Alabama this week. The three-star prospect visited Missouri unofficially during the spring before committed to the Crimson Tide in June. No indications that Missouri is in the mix, as Hill told Rivals.com Southeast Analyst Chad Simmons that LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Alabama are under consideration going forward.
WEEKEND VISITORS:
- Rivals.com analyst Sam Spiegelman caught up with Lancaster (Tex.) wide receiver Latrell Caples yesterday. The three-star prospect is down to Nebraska, Colorado, Boise State, and Missouri. We have confirmed that Caples will be taking an official visit to Missouri this weekend. Boise State also got an official from the 5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect last month.
Caples on Missouri: "I like how they've been recruiting me, how they are in the SEC and second in passing yards in the SEC. They are coming pretty hard for me."
- West Orange (Fla.) wide receiver Jaylon Carlies will also be on campus for an official visit this weekend as well. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect picked up an offer from the Tigers back in July. The three-star prospect has notable offers from Miami, Purdue, Pitt, Syracuse, UCF, Maryland, and others. He is also teammates with Tyler Jones, a three-star safety target who took an official to Missouri back in June.
- Another notable visitor that will be on campus Saturday will be Blue Springs (Mo.) 2021 offensive tackle Beau Stephens. The Tigers were the first to offer Stephens back in the summer, who has since picked up offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, and Kansas. Stephens has visited Kansas State and Notre Dame so far this fall and plans to trek to Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas as well.
- A handful of in-state commitments are expected on campus as well that are not playing games on Saturday. Kevon Billingsley tweeted earlier in the week that he plans to be at the Troy game.
BASKETBALL RECRUITING
The truth is, there's not a ton to report right now.
You may have heard Caleb Love committed to North Carolina this week. We've kind of talked that one to death.
Davion Bradford may or may not be going to Kansas this weekend for Late Night. He was supposed to be there. We've heard some talk it may not happen. Bradford also updated his situation for next year this week
We'll see what happens on that front. As of now, assuming he is in college next year, we think Missouri has a very good shot.
Other than that, Josh Christopher isn't signing until the spring, so there won't be any developments there. Unless something comes from completely off the radar (which is always possible with this staff), we would think the early signing period will be Jordan Wilmore and maybe Bradford. Then we'll see what happens as far as Christopher, transfers and late developments in the spring.
