FOOTBALL RECRUITING
***On Thursday, Missouri received their first commitment of June in three-star QB Aidan Glover, who was on campus for an official visit last weekend. Glover's pledge to the Tigers prompted a visit cancellation for Mizzou's other primary QB target in Trever Jackson, who had made a day one splash at the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Regardless, Missouri got the guy they wanted after Daniel Kaelin flipped his pledge to Nebraska back in May. With Glover, the Tigers get a QB with dual-threat capabilities and a signal-caller that had seen his stock rise throughout the spring. He had previously taken officials to Northwestern and Boston College and was set to finish out the month with visits to Houston and Stanford before joining Mizzou's class.
***After Missouri's first official visit weekend on June 9th, things will be rather quiet on campus this weekend with no visitors expected. The Tigers will continue prepping for their mega weekend on the 23rd.
Right now, the list for June 23rd is as follows (we expect to add to this. We're hearing there are 15 visitors expected. We'll complete the list as best we can in next week's Chamber).:
- Ryan Wingo, WR
- Williams Nwaneri, DE
- Jeremiah Beasley, LB
- Brian Huff, LB
- Cole McConathy, DE
- Darrion Dupree, RB
- Cameron Keys, DB
- Justin Bodford, DT
- Kavion Broussard, OL
- Elias Williams, DE
- Whit Hafer, TE (commit)
- Ryan Jostes, OT (commit)
Here is where things stand with last weekends (and mid-week) visitors:
- Aidan Glover, QB - A commitment for Missouri.
- James Madison, WR - Seems the KC native will stick to his schedule. He's already taken return officials to Louisville and Missouri. He's got another one set with Florida State on June 23rd and a commitment date set for July 4th. He's been pro-Missouri on Twitter since his visit, we'll see if that's just a post-visit adrenaline high or a sign that Missouri could add a Rivals250 blue-chipper.
- Dre Kirkpatrick, DB - Was really impressed with his Missouri visit, but seems to be waiting to see if other committable offers will arise. Auburn has showed him interest, Georgia Tech has offered, and Alabama is his father's alma mater. We'll see how this plays out.
- Justin Logan, LB - Haven't been able to touch base with the four-star prospect after his official visit, so no new intel on where he stands with things. He's got an official visit scheduled with NC State for June 23rd. We'll assume he takes that.
- Ziron Brown, OL - The three-star from Mississippi also enjoyed his official with Missouri, but will weigh out all of his options before making a decision. He has visits with Georgia Tech and Stanford set the next two weekends.
- Joseph Dodds, RB - Will take an OV with Baylor this weekend. Has taken an official with Texas Tech to begin June. That seems to be the three-team race for the three-star rusher.
- Kenyan Kelly, DB - Has taken officials to UTSA and Missouri so far. He has an official set with Kansas on June 23rd. We haven't been able to touch base with the three-star, so we assume that schedule will remain the same.
- Gavin Hoffman, TE - The Missouri legacy got back to campus after picking up an offer earlier this month. He's blown up quite a bit over the last two weeks and appears that he will explore all of his options before making a decision. For, now his only other official is scheduled with Iowa on June 23rd. Hoffman also picked up a recent offer from Tennessee.
- Harper Holloman, DL - Not sure where Holloman is on Missouri's pecking order and we haven't heard back from the Atlanta, Georgia native. He does have an official set with UConn this upcoming weekend.
- Mason Carter, DE - A mid-week visitor for Missouri that doesn't appear to be an immediate take for the Tigers currently, but someone they are interested in and wanted to get a closer look at. The Jacksonville native took an official with Rutgers previous to his trek to Missouri. He will be at Minnesota this weekend for an official.
- One other interesting development: Mizzou has offered Maine grad transfer DL Justin Sambu. We linked his Maine profile there because he doesn't have a Rivals transfer portal profile. However, he does have one from high school when Mizzou apparently offered him. The name vaguely rings a bell, but don't remember much of anything about him or whether he actually ever had a committable offer from the Tigers. We'll try to find out more.
It seems as if Mizzou still wants to add a defensive end. They're throwing numbers at the position. There are a lot of guys there, some won't pan out. But they also don't really have any proven production there. So the approach seems clear: If you get enough guys in, some of them will be good enough to work, especially considering Missouri is pretty strong everywhere else on defense this year.
