OFFICIAL VISITORS:

- Buford took an unofficial visit to Missouri back in March and has since took official visits to Kentucky back in April and Pitt last weekend. The three-star prospect rarely does interviews, so it's hard to get a feel for exactly where he's at in terms of a decision time frame. But, following the visits, it looks like a three-team race for now.

- St. John has been a frequent visitor to Mizzou since picking up an offer last spring and this will be his first official visit. He recently told Midwest analyst Josh Helmholdt that along with the Tigers - Tennessee, Illinois, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Nebraska, and Auburn are expressing the most interest. The three-star prospect plans to take the rest of his officials during the season and make a commitment by the sixth game of his senior season.

NEWS AND NOTES:

- Cooper Davis and JJ Sparkman are other recent official visitors that Missouri feels good about landing as well.

- Will Norris, Jalen Logan-Redding, and Monroe Mills are three, local Columbia targets to keep an eye on. We've heard the coaching staff feels good about landing both Norris and Logan-Redding. It's also possible that Mills could be a part of the class as well. However, in his case, there is only one offensive line spot remaining and a lot will hinge on what happens with Buford and St. John this weekend.

- With Dominique Johnson and now Elijah Young committed, Missouri is done at the running back position in the 2020 recruiting class barring a decommitment.

- Missouri extended new offers to a couple of wide receivers this week in Jaylon Carlies out of West Orange (Fla.) and current Utah commit Monterren Parks out of Aledo (Tex.). The Tigers will likely add 3-4 wide receivers in this year's class, they already have Jay Maclin in the fold and Maureese Wren will be more of a tight end, so Mizzou is looking to add 2-3 more and extending the search party.

- Mizzou targets Noah Arinze, Joe Moore, and Itayvion Brown all took mid-week officials to Minnesota. For Arinze, it's his second official visit haven taken his first to Arizona State back on June 11th. Minnesota is Moore's first official visit, he will take his second this weekend to North Carolina. Moore released a top five after the visit of Minnesota, North Carolina, Arizona State, Illinois, and Oregon so it looks like the Tigers are out on that one. Minnesota is also the first official visit for Brown, who will take his second official to Kansas this weekend. Arinze is a definite take for the Tigers, whereas Brown seems to be a little further down on the WR/TE board for Mizzou.

BASKETBALL RECRUITING

No recruiting news as Mizzou is done with this class and next year's guys aren't likely to start cutting lists and taking visits until after the AAU season concludes. Wanted to mention here that a couple people have brought up the idea that Jontay Porter could return. He won't. Jontay was barely even on campus for the last few months. Plus, Missouri now has no scholarships available, and they're not going to pull one from a guy they've given one. The Porter era is over at Missouri. Think of it what you want to, but it's done here for the foreseeable future (no, that doesn't include Senior, who is still on the coaching staff and while there continue to be rumors that could change Cuonzo Martin flat out told us two weeks ago the staff would remain the same).

We mentioned elsewhere on the board that the wide expectation (not a foregone conclusion, but close) is that Jeremiah Tilmon is spending his last year in Columbia. Reed Nikko comes off the books as well. So we know Mizzou will have at least two scholarships in the 2020 class and we're going to go ahead and bet that there's a minimum of one more defection so you can expect at least three signees in the 2020 class. They may not all come early because technically in the early period Mizzou will only have one spot available, but we expect at least three guys in the 2020 class. Who those will be will be ironed out over the next few months.

We've got another three weeks where football recruiting is the dominant part of the conversation. SEC Media days begin three weeks from Monday and around that time there may start to be more hoops news as well. Enjoy your weekend.
