We're all football recruiting this week. Missouri continues to roll out basketball offers, but we are still trying to narrow down who they're serious about and who is more of a just in case plan. We should get a better handle on that in the next couple of weeks and we will be at the EYBL stop in Kansas City July 7-10 and talk to as many kids as we can. But for now, it's football as Mizzou approaches its biggest recruiting weekend of the summer.
Before Missouri's big official visit weekend begins, the Tigers' staff hosted a handful of their top underclassmen targets on Wednesday. That list included the following headliners.
Andrew Sprague has already been to Missouri multiple times, picking up an offer from the Tigers back on April 13th. He has since picked up notable offers from Stanford, Michigan, Nebraska, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, and others. He'll be another highly-touted OL to come out of the Kansas City area.
Williams Nwaneri is another four-star prospect on a talent-rich Lee's Summit North squad that will be a priority for the Tigers moving forward. He's already been on Mizzou's campus a few times already and picked up an offer from Mizzou back in November. However, Wednesday's visit was different as his father tagged along with him and got to meet the coaching staff this time around. Oklahoma recently jumped in the mix. Michigan State, Alabama, Georgia, Southern Cal, Texas A&M, and Michigan are some of his other notable offers. Read about his visit here.
Missouri became Aneyas Williams' first SEC offer back on March 24th when he was offered during a visit. Before that visit, the Hannibal (Mo.) product had offers from Oregon and Nevada. Now, Williams possesses offers from the likes of Nebraska, Cal, Boston College, Iowa, Northwestern, Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Florida. Williams is definitely one of the fast-rising 2024 prospects throughout the spring and summer.
Melvin Laster Jr. is another multiple-time visitor to Missouri and the Tigers were the first to extend an offer back in June of last year. The four-star has picked up notable offers from Tennessee, Arkansas, Oregon, Minnesota, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, K-State, and Kansas.
Isaiah Mozee already has an impressive offer list for a 2025 prospect. His offer sheet includes Oklahoma, Iowa, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Oregon, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Michigan, Georgia, and others. The talented wide receiver has been on Missouri's campus multiple times already for games and unofficial visits. The Tigers got in relatively early with Mozee, offering back in October - they were his third overall offer behind Miami (Oh.) and Iowa.
Chase Pearsall is another talented Lee's Summit North prospect that has an early offer from Missouri as well as Nebraska.
The Lee's Summit North contingent also included 2025 defensive tackle Ka'Mori Moore, who already checks in at 321 pounds as he is about to start his sophomore year in high school. Moore camped at Iowa after the Mizzou trip.
Jaden Reddell is a receiver the Tigers are definitely monitoring in 2024. He doesn't have an offer yet, but is on the list of guys you should know who could pick one up.
*Now, on to this weekend. Mizzou has titled it "The Summit" and is hyping it up all over social media. We're expecting nine visitors in town. Here they are with a note on where we think Mizzou stands with each.
Cayden Green -- Green is an Oklahoma lean at this point. Missouri is going to shoot its shot. The Tigers have ground to make up. It is not impossible they give him something to think about, but he's got a commitment date set in a couple of weeks and the Sooners are the definite favorite at this time.
Logan Reichert -- Reichert is coming off an official visit to Oregon. Missouri is in very good shape here. Of all the in-state guys, we're probably most confident Mizzou gets Reichert, though we don't know when to target a commitment. Probably the best thing that happened for Missouri was Dan Lanning getting the Oregon job. Lanning on staff at Georgia was probably a bigger threat to Mizzou than Lanning at Oregon. Eugene is just a long, long way away.
Marvin Burks -- The Cardinal Ritter safety will surprise some people being on this list. He put out a top 15 a few weeks ago and Missouri wasn't on it. This is the latest evidence that you really don't need to pay attention to a lot of these lists. Missouri has never been out of it. Burks definitely could commit to some of the schools that were on that list, but Mizzou getting an official is an obvious sign he hasn't eliminated the home state school. Many consider Ole Miss the big threat here right now.
Jyaire Hill -- Missouri has been on Hill for quite a while and he visited back in April unofficially. The only other visit we know he has taken is Illinois. Not sure we'd put him on commit watch this weekend, but we wouldn't rule it out.
Corey Kelley -- Kelley committed to Baylor two weeks ago after an official visit to Waco, but he's expected to make the trip to Columbia this weekend. If he gets to campus, it's a sign he's obviously still listening. Linebacker is a pretty big need in this class and Kelley would be a good one to land.
Joshua Manning -- Manning has visited Iowa State, Kansas State, Nebraska and Arkansas. Missouri gets the last trip. The Tigers have a shot, though they may need to make up ground on K-State and Nebraska. The Wildcats landed RB Dylan Edwards earlier this week and are expected to grab QB Avery Johnson. If they get Johnson, some think that's a big help with getting Manning. Mizzou needs to make a strong impression this week.
Nicholas DeLoach -- The Cahokia wideout impressed the staff at 7-on-7 last week and picked up an offer. The Tigers are his only major offer right now and a commitment is definitely a strong possibility this weekend. Now that he's broken the seal on Power Five offers, he's likely to pick up more attention so getting him on board early could be big for Mizzou.
Amir Herring -- Missouri has its chance to sell Herring before he commits somewhere on July 7. He's visited Boston College, Nebraska and Michigan. He set the commitment date coming off his official to Michigan. There aren't a lot of kids from Michigan who get offers from the Wolverines or Spartans and leave the state. This would be an impressive get for Mizzou, but the Wolverines have to be considered the leader.
Jamal Roberts -- After Edwards committed to Kansas State, Missouri wasted no time in lining up an official for Roberts. As of a week ago, he was probably behind Edwards and Jeremiyah Love on the running back list, but he's a take for the Tigers if he wants to commit this weekend. We'd expect the staff to try to push for that to happen. He's probably right behind DeLoach on the most likely to commit list.
