FOOTBALL RECRUITING
-Missouri is set for its first official visit weekend of June, which will feature nine targets coming in for a visit. They include the following...
James Madison, WR
Justin Logan, LB
Dre Kirkpatrick, Jr., DB
Gavin Hoffman, TE
Ziron Brown, OL
Kenyan Kelly, DB
Joseph Dodds, RB
Harper Holloman, DL

If we had to put some of those above on commitment watch, we'd go with Hoffman, Dodds and Madison. Hoffman is an area player who got his first major offer from Mizzou, though he's added a ton in the week since. But being first can't hurt and the family ties to Missouri are in the Tigers' corner as well. Dodds recently visited Texas Tech, but we're told the Red Raiders have filled his spot. From what we hear, it's likely Mizzou or Baylor for him. Madison has visited before, he's consistently played up Missouri on social media (to be fair, he's consistently played up multiple schools on social media) and he's making a decision on July 4th.
That's not saying some of the others won't commit. But going in, those are the three we view as most likely at this point in time.
- Another key official visitor that will be coming in this weekend is Collierville (Tenn.) quarterback target Aidan Glover. Missouri offered the three-star prospect the same day Daniel Kaelin decommitted from the Tigers. So far, Glover has taken officials to Northwestern and Boston College. He has additional visits set with Houston and Stanford after his trip to CoMo this weekend.
Missouri is also expected to host another QB target in Trever Jackson the weekend of June 23rd. Jackson began June by taking an official with Pitt and Texas A&M is also pushing for an official as well.
- Missouri also hosted some notable, in-state underclassmen on Wednesday headlined by 2025 wide receiver Corey Simms and 2026 OL Jackson Cantwell.
Simms has added quite a few offers to his resume over the last couple of weeks, including Washington State, TCU, Kansas State, Iowa, and Minnesota. Missouri jumped in on the CBC product early, offering him last summer after an impressive camp performance. He has since made quite a few visits to CoMo.
Cantwell is a Missouri legacy and is building quite an impressive recruiting resume of his own and will likely be one of the most sought-after offensive lineman in his class. Oregon, Florida State, Ole Miss, Iowa State, and Illinois are his recent football offers.
Other notable visitors included DeSmet LB Jason King (2025), Hickman TE Brock Camp (2025), CBC ATH Jacquise Williams (2025), Lee's Summit North DL Ka'Mori Moore (2025), Lee's Summit North OL Tre Williams (2025)
BASKETBALL RECRUITING
- The focus is now fully on the 2024 recruiting cycle. Connor Vanover will be here, Isiaih Mosley will not and the roster is almost definitely set for next season. We say almost just to leave a little wiggle room in case something completely unforeseen happens, but the expectations is that the Tigers are done adding players to the roster (they've already got 18 and summer workouts started on Thursday).
- We imagine many have actually skipped down to read this portion first due to Thursday's tease. John Bol, a 7-foot-2 center and the No. 34 prospect in the class, is set to make his announcement on Saturday at 11 a.m. On Bol's list of eight are Mizzou, Michigan, Florida, Texas, USC, UCONN, Wake Forest and Overtime Elite.
Let us take you on the ride of the last 18 hours since Bol announced the announcement.
Shortly after that tweet we had someone tell us it looked like Missouri was going to get Bol. This is someone we trust who has good connections and information on the recruitment. This is, for the record, not a source connected to Mizzou. Just putting that out there so that if it goes a different way (and it might, more on that soon) there isn't any "Another example of Mizzou feeling good about someone and not getting him." Basically, we actually put more stock in this information because it came from someone with no skin in the game as far as Mizzou is concerned.
Later in the day, the information from that source changed and it was relayed that Bol may be headed elsewhere. So the rest of the day we checked with a number of people. And the responses were all over the map. Ultimately, the belief is that there are three major players here: Missouri, Florida and Overtime Elite. Bol has visited Michigan and at one time USC was thought to be a prime contender. We won't completely write off either of those two, but we'd put Mizzou, Florida and OTE as the three most likely destinations.
One source told us he believes if Bol alone makes this decision Missouri will win out. He's had very positive things to say about Dennis Gates and his staff and the Tigers have been on him a long time. We've also been told that Mizzou is in position to do what needs to be done NIL wise here.
But there might be other factors as well. Bol's guardian is Marcus Wilson, who was an assistant coach at Evansville last season. Wilson left the Evansville staff two weeks ago. There is some thought that wherever Wilson ends up for next season, Bol will follow. That could be Overtime Elite, it could be a school on Bol's list of seven to help secure the commitment of a four-star and there is even some thought it could be a school not on Bol's list trying to get on that list. What we can confidently say is that Missouri won't hire Wilson. The Tigers don't have an opening on the staff and from what we've gathered, we don't see Dennis Gates shaking things up like that to make room. Bol is a good prospect with a lot of potential. He is not a hire a guy you wouldn't otherwise hire (cough, MPJ, cough) for a job prospect. The people we've talked to think Bol is a multi-year college player and not a sure-fire NBA guy. That's not to downplay his potential. He'd be a great get for Gates to start off the class. He's 7-2, he's an excellent rim protector and rebounder. He's also limited offensively and is going to take some time in college to add muscle and reach his potential.
So where will Bol ultimately end up? Truthfully, we're not sure anybody knows that right now. We believe Missouri is on the short list of the short list. Whether they ultimately get him or not, we don't know (and, truthfully, wherever he announces tomorrow may not ultimately be the final destination--you'd rather be the one that gets him tomorrow than not, but our expectation is that there would still be work to make sure he stays on board through November's signing period). Given the way yesterday went, the tides could shift a couple more times before the announcement. The last 24 hours here have really reiterated how wild following recruiting has become. What's true in one day might no longer be true the next. What's true in the morning might not be true by the evening. It's always been crazy, but with NIL and free transfers combined with everyone's insistence on keeping everything secret for the dramatic social media reveal, it's crazier than it's ever been.
-Missouri does not have any visitors in town this weekend. The staff is holding Mizzou's team camp. While June is big for football official visits, the spring and fall tend to be busier times for visits in basketball.
As always, stay tuned, we'll update you if necessary.
