BASKETBALL RECRUITING
With basketball on the road, the recruiting news is football-centric. The hoops team is focused on tournament play so there probably won't be a ton of movement other than reports of transfers that Missouri has contacted. This might be a way to kind of see what people are thinking on the roster makeup for next year. But we wouldn't read TOO much into it.
Wilcox is a 6-6 wing. If you want to view him as a Dree Gholston replacement you could, but we'd look at him more as just the typical athletic type of player Dennis Gates is going to target.
To recap, we know Gholston, Tre Gomillion and D'Moi Hodge are gone. We expect Nick Honor, Noah Carter and Sean East back. Which means the only real questions as far as seniors are Kobe Brown and Isiaih Mosley. We'll play a popular Twitter game here. This is our current read on the situation.
Either returns: 40%

Kobe isn't going to say anything until after the season and honestly it will probably be quite a while after the season. He'll go through the draft process. The NBA Draft Combine will happen some time in May. The NCAA deadline to withdraw from the draft is ten days after that combine. So Kobe's decision very well could take a couple of months. NIL will be a factor for sure, along with the feedback he gets as he goes through the draft process. But we don't see a situation where we know for sure what Kobe is doing until at least mid-May.
Mosley obviously isn't talking at all. We've only spoken to him once during the season. There are so many things at play here, but ultimately it comes down to does he want to come back and does Dennis Gates want to commit a scholarship to him? Both of those answers probably have a lot to do with whether Mosley's personal situation is something both sides expect to be resolved in the next few months or whether it's more of a thing that has an open-ended timeline.
At this point, we'd put it more likely that Brown is back than Mosley, but most likely that neither is back. Again, has anybody told us this? No. But it's our read based on what we know as of today.
Here are the remaining scholarship players: Aidan Shaw, Mohammed Diarra, Ronnie DeGray, Kaleb Brown. Yes, it has been reported that Mabor Majak is on scholarship, but we're not sure that means he will be next year so we're not including him here. No reason to think Shaw or Diarra would leave. DeGray has been hurt, his PT was up and down before. He's already transferred, so he might have to get a waiver to transfer again, but it's certainly possible. With Kaleb, he hasn't played much this year and if Kobe leaves, you have to think there's a pretty good chance Kaleb does too. So let's say for this conversation that Shaw and Diarra are back, DeGray and Brown or not. Here's your roster in that case:
Honor, Carter, East, Diarra, Shaw, Anthony Robinson, Trent Pierce, Jordan Butler, Curt Lewis.
That's nine scholarship players. If you add Majak, it's ten. Which means Mizzou has three or four spots left it could use. If Jarin Stevenson reclassifies, Missouri will absolutely take him. Which would leave two to three spots in the portal. If Stevenson stays in 2024 or goes somewhere else, you're back to three to four spots. Again, you're going to have to hold at least one of them until early summer to see what Kobe's plans are.
FOOTBALL RECRUITING
Another weekend in March means more visitor action in CoMo. Here is a list of notable targets/prospects expected in town this weekend, we'll continue to add more to the list as we get them.
Daniel Kaelin, QB - The three-star is seemingly Mizzou No. 1 target at the position. He's been on campus multiple times throughout the past year, most recently for a game in November and a return visit in December to check out bowl practice. Kaelin will be back in town this weekend (we believe he'll arrive on Friday) after taking recent trips to Colorado in January and North Carolina last week. He's expected to be in town for two days. He's had a commitment time frame of around "February or March" for a while now, so it may be only a matter of time before he pops and it seems Missouri is in a great spot.
Ryan Wingo, WR - The five-star will be back in Columbia once again, having recently visited Mizzou back in December to check out the Tigers' bowl practice. Never a bad thing to have one of the nation's top playmakers on campus. He'll make the trek to Georgia and Nebraska later this month. There's been some talk of a summer decision, but nothing seems imminent.
Marcus Neal, ATH - The Raytown South athlete has early offers from Iowa State and Kansas State. A Missouri offer may come his way this weekend, we'll see.
One in-state target to watch is Washington (Mo.) offensive lineman Ryan Jostes, who was back on campus Thursday to take in Mizzou's spring practice. We previously pegged him as one of the next guys to commit to the Tigers and given his ties to the program (his grandfather is former Tiger Randy Jostes), we'd say Missouri is in the driver's seat. Jostes was last at Missouri back in January for a Jr. Day visit shortly after receiving his offer. Jostes will be back on campus on Saturday. Two visits in three days indicates people should probably get their Future Casts in.
