- Despite recent offers from blue blood programs like Notre Dame, Alabama, LSU, and others, that hasn't deterred Jeremiyah Love's ongoing interest in Missouri, their coaching staff, and their program. Love recently talked to our Notre Dame site and talked highly of Missouri in that piece. Love recently told us he plans to visit Missouri this spring and return again in the summer. Love is one of the hottest prospects in the country, adding about 25 offers since the end of January.
- Hough (N.C.) product JT Smith is another running back target to keep an eye on as well. The three-star picked up a Missouri offer back in September and has been hearing consistently from the staff since. Smith mentioned Missouri, Wisconsin, and Virginia as the three schools sticking out right now and he plans to visit each of them soon.
- Sticking with the running back theme, recent 2024 offer Terek McCant out of Seffner (Fla.) Christian Academy says he's got Missouri pegged for a summertime visit. The Tigers were the first SEC offer to the all-purpose back a few days ago, he has since picked up offers from Ole Miss, Louisville, and Cincinnati. He's been talking to OL coach Marcus Johnson, who compared his game to that of former Tiger Tyler Badie.
- We caught up with Laurel (Miss.) offensive lineman Malachi Breland earlier this week, Missouri is his first SEC and power five offer so far, so the Tigers are sticking out in his recruiting process. This is another relationship that began in September as Breland has been talking with OL coach Marcus Johnson and is looking to take a visit sometime soon.
- Missouri also offered four-star WR Robert Stafford out of Eau Claire (Fla.) a few days ago. Stafford, who hails from the same high school as current Missouri cornerback Davion Sistrunk, has 40 offers on his resume right now but said he's really open to everyone at this point. He mentioned he has been talking with Noah Joseph, who is an analyst on Missouri's staff and he likes that they are treating Sistrunk really good since he's been on campus. Not sure if Missouri will get a visit, but considering the connection, it's very possible.
- Ray-Pec (Mo.) WR Jaidyn Doss swung by Missouri's campus on Thursday for a visit. The top priority target had this to say about his latest trip to Columbia.
"It was a great visit. Coach (Jacob) Peeler is awesome. We really connected. It was a good visit with him. Being able to talk to Coach (Kevin) Pendleton too was good. We kind of come from the same place, so we talk about home a lot. Coach Drink is a really nice guy. Makes me laugh a lot because he cracks jokes and stuff."
Doss noted that Peeler likes his ability to play both wide receiver and running back, which makes him more of a weapon.
Nebraska is next up on his visit list next week. Then, he'll head to Michigan later this month and take a trip to Oregon in April.
Here's our full story after talking to Doss yesterday.
-The next two weekends will be big visit weekends for the Tigers welcoming prospects to watch spring football practice. We're expecting close to ten prospects this weekend and then next weekend is being targeted as a big visit weekend with hopes of getting close to 20 prospects on campus including some of the bigger 2023 targets. We'll spend next week gathering info on those visitors, but here's who we expect to be in town this weekend:
2023 commitment Jahkai Lang
Recent 2023 QB offer Brock Glenn
2024 QB Daniel Kaelin, who could get a Mizzou offer soon
2024 OL Talan Chandler
2023 DE Kendrick Gilbert
2023 DE Caden Wiest
2023 DB River Hanson
We'll follow up with those players as much as we can over the next week.
-A quick update (sort of) on the two transfers that are still potentially out there:
*There's really nothing new on the Jayden Daniels situation. He visited Missouri and from what we can gather, things went well. The Tigers feel good about their chances of landing the ASU signal caller. But he isn't committed to Mizzou at this point. He is also not committed anywhere else and, to our knowledge, hasn't taken any other visits. LSU has been mentioned as interested as has Cal and both seem to be possibilities, but nothing has been decided. We don't really have a timetable at this point for a decision from Daniels. If he were to choose Mizzou, he can still enroll for the second part of second semester (there's a lot more flexibility with class schedules than there used to be considering all the online options). Obviously at this point, though, spring football is looking less likely. It's not impossible. He could commit to Missouri today and be in town this weekend if he wanted to and go through the second half of spring football. But only 15 days (and a couple post-spring game practices) remain in spring ball, so he wouldn't be here for more than about half of it regardless. We'll keep you posted, but Daniels isn't responding to any messages so we're all kind of hold.
*Marquis Robinson, the Auburn DL transfer, looks unlikely now. Word out of Auburn is he's still enrolled in classes there. He could return to Auburn. Or not. We aren't sure there. We won't say Missouri's chances are dead, but the feeling we get is Mizzou has moved on. If he were to call and still want to come, would Mizzou take him? We assume so, but we don't really know that. At this point, we're assuming it's not going to end up happening.
