FOOTBALL RECRUITING

Let's start with the most immediate potential impact visitor of the weekend. We have confirmed that quarterback Drew Pyne is expected to be on a visit beginning today. Pyne started his career at Notre Dame and actually did pretty well. As a redshirt sophomore in 2022 he threw for 2000 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions in 11 games. The Irish were 9-4 that year, but Pyne was 8-2 as a starter. One of those losses was to Stanford when Pyne completed fewer than half his passes and Notre Dame scored just 14 points. But the other was to USC and Pyne was 23/26 for 318 yards, 3 touchdowns and a pick. It was his last game at ND as he entered the portal prior to the bowl game win over South Carolina.

From there, Pyne transferred to Arizona State where freshman Jaden Rashada won the starting job. After two games, the Sun Devils opened it up when Rashada got hurt. Pyne went 5/13 with 2 interceptions in a shutout loss to Fresno State and left with a leg injury. He then went 21/36 for 221 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 42-28 loss to USC, but that was his last action of the year. He transferred back to Notre Dame to finish his school work, but not play football. He'll graduate this spring. It has been reported that he has three years of eligibility left due to injuries last season (Kenny Dillingham said Pyne was dealing with "three different injuries" which caused him to miss time).

We haven't been able to reach Pyne so we don't really know who else he's talking to or where things stand. We'll do our best to update you out of the weekend.

* Spring visit times are now upon us and Missouri is hosting a plethora of top targets in the 2025 and 2026 classes throughout the months of March and April.

- The Tigers kicked things off on Wednesday with visits from a couple of four-stars in LB Dawson Merritt and WR Corey Simms.

With Merritt, he was recently at Mizzou for their Jr. Day in January and told us that he plans to also take an official visit with the Tigers as well. He currently has officials scheduled with Oklahoma and Nebraska.
