FOOTBALL RECRUITING

- JUCO cornerback Les "LJ" Hewitt is currently on campus for an official visit. While he's listed as a 2023 prospect, we've heard he can reclassify to the 2022 class and have four years to play three in terms of eligibility. The 6-foot-3 prospect took an official to Iowa State earlier this month and Mississippi State just offered as well, so the Bulldogs may also get a look. If Hewitt does indeed intend to reclassify to 2022, we would expect him to make a decision sooner rather than later with most schools starting summer workouts at the end of this month.

- Another 2022 JUCO product Missouri is looking to add is College of the Canyons (Calif.) defensive tackle Taylor Lewis. The 6-foot-3, 295-pound prospect is looking to visit Missouri on May 29th. He also has an official visit scheduled with Oregon State on May 27th and will take a trip to Nebraska as well.

- A quick refresher on the scholarship situation since we're talking about a couple players who could still be added to the roster prior to the 2022 season. According to our scholarship chart, which can be viewed here, Mizzou is currently at the NCAA limit of 85. First off, we believe our count is very close to accurate, but it's possible it is not perfect. Second, being one or two over the limit in June is not unusual, and as always, the numbers have a way of working themselves out. It sounds harsh, but if Mizzou needs a player or two to grad transfer or medically retire, it will happen.

- On to 2023 news. Mizzou is among the Top 5 schools for Denmark (Ga.) 4-star linebacker Dee Crayton, who also has Clemson, Penn State, Auburn, and UCF in the mix. Crayton has an official visit set up with Missouri the weekend of June 17th. He will be at Clemson (June 3rd), Auburn (June 10th), and Penn State (June 24th). Crayton said an official to UCF could happen in late July.

- Cy Woods (Tex.) LB Dylan Rogers is another target that has been added to Missouri's official visit list for the big June 24th weekend. The Tigers have been mentioned with the three-star prospect for quite some time already and the competition appears to be Texas Tech and Mississippi State. Rogers picked up an offer from Missouri back in January from DC Blake Baker.

- Also confirmed that Alleman (Ill.) OL Charles Jagusah will take an official to Missouri on June 10th. Missouri was the 4-star's first offer last summer after he impressed the coaching staff during a camp. He has returned to Mizzou's campus a couple of times since then, so it's not a surprise to see the Tigers get a shot here. Arkansas, Michigan, and Notre Dame will also get June officials from the 6-foot-6, 320-pound prospect.

- Dutchtown (La.) LB Dickson Agu is another new target to keep an eye on. Missouri got involved with the 6-foot-1, 220-pound prospect after defensive line coach Kevin Peoples watched him at practice. He recently did a virtual tour with Missouri's staff and is planning to visit CoMo next month. Purdue is a school that offered Agu early in his recruiting process. The Boilermakers already had him on campus for an unofficial and he's planning to return there for an official in June.

- Missouri is the first SEC offer for St. Francis (Ill.) 2023 athlete Dash Dorsey, who plays both defensive back and wide receiver for his high school. Dorsey is already familiar with Missouri as he visited campus last year. He plans to return and camp for the coaching staff next month. Right now, he's being recruited as an athlete. Nebraska is a school that already has an established relationship with him, having offered earlier this year and he's already taken a couple of unofficial visits there this year. He's planning to return to Nebraska next month as well.

- Another new Missouri target that is planning to camp with the staff next month is LB David Caulker out of Des Moines (Iowa) North. The Tigers are his first SEC offer. Iowa State is a team to watch as he's visited there previously and has an official visit set with the Cyclones for June 10th. Missouri assistant Erik Link is an alum of Caulker's high school.

- Five-star DE/LB Samuel M'Pemba has set up a couple of official visits to Oregon (June 24th), Notre Dame (June 17th) according to his Twitter account. We still believe Mizzou is in the hunt, as he's been on campus multiple times, but the Tigers were always going to have to beat out some big dogs for M'Pemba.

- Miles McVay is planning to take official visits to Texas A&M, Michigan State, and Oregon during the summer. Alabama and Florida will get officials during the fall. However, the four-star also plans to visit Arkansas, LSU, and Missouri as well in an unofficial capacity. McVay told us back at the Rivals Camp in Indy that Mizzou not getting an official won't be a big deal since he's been on campus double-digit times already.

- Also, RB target Jeremiyah Love has set up an official visit to Michigan for June 10th. That's the only one he has set for now.

BASKETBALL RECRUITING

We are in a bit of a holding pattern right now on the hoops side, at least as it relates to the two remaining open scholarships on next year's roster. We still believe Missouri intends to fill both spots, one with a rim protector and one with a wing, preferably someone who can shoot. We have not heard any credible reports of Mizzou pursuing a specific individual for either spot. When we do, you all will know.

As for recruiting in future classes, Mizzou continues to send out quite a few offers to 2023 prospects and beyond. As they do, we continue to update this offer board, which shows each of the players the new staff has offered with a brief synopsis on each. We are working to get in touch with each player, as well. We will be represented at the EYBL tournament in Louisville, Kentucky, next week, which should be a good opportunity to watch and chat with most of them.

One recent offer that stands out is Parker Friedrichsen. As you all will likely remember, Cuonzo Martin and his staff were hard after Friedrichsen, visiting him in Oklahoma and bringing him onto campus for an official visit. Friedrichsen ultimately committed to Oklahoma State, but on May 11, he backed away from that pledge. On Monday, the new Mizzou staff extended an offer. We caught up with Friedrichsen on the phone last night and will have a story on him over the weekend, but it sounds like he's still very interested in Mizzou. There will be a fair amount of competition for the sharpshooter. He said Nebraska, Virginia Tech, Stanford, Ohio State, Xavier and Creighton have all reached out since he de-committed. And he also said he felt like he rushed his Oklahoma State commitment so he doesn't want to repeat that mistake. But Friedrichsen said he plans to sign in November, and he will certainly be a prospect to keep an eye on between now and then.
