FOOTBALL RECRUITING
RIVALS 3-STRIPE CAMP FOLLOW UP:
- We've already given you a ton of updates on key Mizzou targets coming off the Rivals 3-Stripe Camp in East St. Louis last weekend, we'll have a few more that will post in the next few days on James Frenchie, Jalen St. John, Joe Moore, Noah Arinze, Devyn Curtis, and Mekhi Hagens.
- Midwest analyst Josh Helmholdt posted his commitment predictions earlier this week coming out of the Rivals camp. He picked Kevon Billingsley to end up at Missouri. The four-star prospect told us that he's planning to be back in Columbia this summer for an official visit. Other in-state targets that we feel Mizzou has a good shot with after talking with those in attendance this past Sunday include: Antonio Johnson, Jalen St. John, James Frenchie, and Joe Moore.
NEW LINEBACKER PROSPECTS:
- Looking at the roster, it looks Missouri will likely only take two linebackers in this year's recruiting class. We've talked frequently about in-state targets Will Norris and Antonio Doyle (who will take an official to Mizzou on June 7th).
Rivals analyst Sam Spiegelman has been combing the state of Texas and has brought two new linebacker targets to our attention this week in Jeremiah Harris, who has Missouri among his top five, and Corey Flagg, who the coaching staff has shown increased interest in throughout the spring.
OFFICIAL VISITORS:
- Taylor took his official to Missouri last weekend, we have briefly touched base with him this week and hope to get him on the phone for an interview sometime this weekend. He is in the midst of finals week at his high school, so he's been a bit tied up. From everything we've gathered, the four-star prospect doesn't seem to be in a rush to make a decision and is planning to take additional officials to LSU, Washington, and Penn State.
- A source told us, like they pretty much all do, that the visit went well, but with heavyweight programs line up for the rest of those visits, who knows?
- The big offensive line target out of Carver (Ala.) has an official visit scheduled to Missouri the weekend of June 21st. Robinson will also take an official to Tennessee the weekend before Missouri as well. Auburn recently jumped in the picture with an offer, which has prompted them to jump to the top of the three-star prospects' list of suitors. Where he stands on their board? We don't know, so we'll see how this plays out over the next month.
- In case you missed it, Mehlville OL Mitchell Walters became Missouri's fourth commitment for 2020 earlier this week. All four are in-state prospects and all four are from the St. Louis area. Barry Odom has now landed nine St. Louis area prospects in the last two classes (with plenty of time still to go in this cycle). Missouri's never going to get all of them, but obviously the Tigers have made big strides in getting some of them the last two years.
BASKETBALL RECRUITING
Not a lot of news this week as we pretty much unloaded everything we had last week coming off of the EYBL in Indianapolis. The 2019 class should hit campus in the next couple of weeks and @AJ_Blankenship13 is going to try to touch base with each of them for a final update before they do.
We've said we think Missouri is done for this recruiting cycle and nothing about that has really changed. There is an interesting tidbit out there this morning:
Whitt is a Columbia Hickman product in the Class of 2015. He started at Arkansas, transferred after one year and started the last two for SMU. He's been in college four years, so you'd assume he will be a graduate transfer, though the tweet doesn't specify that. Mizzou does have a scholarship available, but it really doesn't seem like there's all that much room in the backcourt. Like we said, we don't really see a match here, but being that he's a local kid we figured we'd at least point it out.
As always, if anything else develops we'll pass it along.
