FOOTBALL RECRUITING

***Longtime safety commit Cam Dooley backed off his Missouri pledge on Wednesday. We want to reiterate here that Mizzou's staff didn't pull his offer and this is simply a situation where Dooley lives in Alabama, other schools are expressing interest, people are in his ear, and he wants to take a step back and reevaluate things. Could be a situation where he may prefer to be closer to home, but we'll find out. Wisconsin and UCF have extended offers since Dooley announced his decomitment. With the Badgers, it's not necessarily closer to home, but his high school teammate, Jay Harper, is committed to the Badgers so he does have a connection there. Kentucky is another school that is continuing to show interest. Dooley took a summer official to Kentucky and it seems he could return to Lexington for a gameday visit at some point this fall. Dooley told PowerMizzou.com that despite reopening his recruiting process, Missouri is still in consideration for him moving forward as well. So, we'll see how things play out. In the end, we expect Wisconsin, Mizzou and Kentucky to be in contention.

***Missouri extended a new 2024 offer out to current Georgia Tech commit Trajen Greco. While listed as an athlete, the three-star is projected to be a cornerback for the Yellow Jackets. We're assuming that's where the Tigers are recruiting him as well as defensive coordinator Blake Baker is involved. Missouri is the first school to extend an offer to Greco since he committed to GT back in June. Greco has put together a nice senior campaign on both sides of the ball so far, hauling in 34 catches for 458 yards and nine touchdowns on offense while recording 14 tackles and five pass deflections at corner. We've asked around and get the sense that it would take a lot to pull Greco away from his GT pledge as it sounds like his mother wants him to stay close to home.

***Missouri is still in the market for a running back in this year's class and recent offer Kiefer Sibley, out of Waco (Tex.) is a guy we've mentioned a few times on the board already. Missouri running backs coach Curtis Luper went and watched him in-person during the Tigers' bye week last week. Things are relatively new with Missouri and Sibley, who recently told us that he's very interested in visiting for a game this upcoming season. We did a profile on the three-star earlier this week (CLICK HERE TO READ), who is putting up big numbers.

***Rivals250 wide receiver Isaiah Mozee included Missouri among his Top 8 earlier this week. Other schools that make up that list include Arkansas, Oregon, Kansas, Tennessee, Nebraska, Georgia, and Oklahoma. Obviously, at initial glance, this could very well end up being another Missouri, Oklahoma battle royal for another highly-touted prospect from Lee's Summit North. Those are the two programs the four-star, 2025 prospect has visited the most and has the most direct connections with. Missouri won out with Williams Nwanreri, we'll see if they can do it again with Mozee.

***Speaking of 2025 WR targets, Rivals.com Midwest analyst Clint Cosgrove caught up with CBC product Corey Simms earlier this week. Missouri was the first school to offer the tall, rangy pass-catcher well over a year ago and the Tigers remain a strong presence in his recruiting process. He talks about that along with his other gameday trips to Kansas State and Tennessee this fall - CLICK HERE TO READ

***We're still following up with the plethora of recent gameday visitors for Missouri throughout the season. Earlier this week, we caught up with 2025 safety target Jeremiah Alvis, who was in town for the LSU game earlier this season. It seems Missouri cornerbacks coach Al Pogue has established a great rapport with the rising junior early on in his recruiting process - CLICK HERE TO READ

***The Tennessee game next weekend will be Missouri''s second major in-season visit weekend (LSU had 70 some prospects on campus). With a potential huge game and possibly even College Game Day on campus (let's see how Saturday goes), the Tiger staff will want to bring as many players as possible in to show off the game day atmosphere. That alone is a big step. For a few years, Missouri hosted most of its important visitors in December because the atmosphere at Faurot Field simply didn't compare to many of the other places they'd go. That's changed. After a 19% increase in attendance last year, which led the SEC, Mizzou is reporting another 8.5% bump this year, the highest in the conference again. They've got a game day atmosphere they're happy to show off for the first time in quite a while.

Anyway, we've started to do some recon on who will be in town. We'd expect quite a few of the current commitments in. But Mizzou is also going to be bringing in plenty of other 2024 and 2025 prospects. We'll have a full list next Friday, but here's a head start:

Marc Nave - Nave committed to Ohio State in March, took an official visit in June, then decommitted on September 30. Not sure at this point what the story is behind the recommitment. We'll do some research over the next week. But Missouri is expecting him on campus next weekend.

Jamarion Parker
DJ Miller
Carson Boyd
Charles Bass

Again, there will be a lot more players on campus, including quite a few out of staters. We'll gather info throughout next week and get you as comprehensive a list as we can next Friday morning.
