FOOTBALL RECRUITING
Some 2023 target notes
- There is some Ole Miss buzz surrounding 4-star safety Marvin Burks after he made a return trip to Oxford this past weekend. The Rebels were one of the schools to get an official visit from Burks during the month of June, the other being Texas A&M and Missouri. Burks also made a return trip to Missouri for their opener against Louisiana Tech, that visit also created a good amount of buzz towards the Tigers as well. So, we'll see how the latest post-visit chatter will play out.
- Three-star defensive end Taje McCoy and three-star cornerback Phillip Roche were both targets that were expected to be on campus over the weekend for the Georgia game, but weren't able to make it.
For McCoy, he is one of Missouri's most recent 2023 offers, he told us that he's hearing a lot from the staff right now and is planning to visit Missouri after his senior season is over.
While Roche wasn't able to make it for the Georgia game, he has already taken in a game at Missouri when the Tigers defeated Abilene Christian earlier this season. The Merrellville, Indiana native said he's in constant contact with defensive coordinator Blake Baker and is planning to get back to CoMo again this season.
- Illinois linebacker commit Antwon Hayden was back at Missouri on Saturday for the Georgia game. The three-star said the "atmosphere stood out all the way" in terms of his gameday experience. He also said his relationship with Mizzou coaches is "going good" and that he plans to visit other schools during the fall. Illinois will get a return visit this weekend for their game against Iowa. Mississippi State is another school that is expressing a lot interest in Hayden.
- Three-star OL Brandon Solis picked up an offer from Missouri back in March. He visited CoMo for a spring practice and returned this past weekend for the Georgia game. Offensive line is one position of need for Missouri moving forward in the 2023 class and Solis is a name to keep an eye on. He's already taken summer officials to Boston College and Cincinnati. Mississippi State, TCU, Indiana, and Florida State are other schools involved.
- Staying with the OL theme, Missouri extended a new 2023 offer to Gretna (Neb.) product Mason Goldman earlier this week. The three-star had been talking to Missouri assistant Erik Link for quite a while before the offer. Goldman said he's very interested in Missouri and looking to visit as soon as possible. Kansas, Memphis, and Arizona State are his other notable offers right now. He's also hearing from Iowa, Nebraska, K-State, Iowa State, and Vanderbilt.
- After taking a June official with Missouri, three-star cornerback Jyaire Hill was back on campus for the Georgia game. Always a good sign when one of your top targets in the class returns for gameday trip. It seems Illinois and Michigan are the other teams in contention for Hill, but with his latest trip to CoMo, it seems Missouri is a real contender moving forward.
- Samuel M'Pemba was back on campus for the Georgia game. While Missouri isn't listed among his Top 4, if a five-star with St. Louis ties wants to visit, you don't say no. Ironically, Georgia is currently considered the favorite to land the IMG Academy product. M'Pemba has official visits scheduled with Georgia, LSU, Miami, and Tennessee throughout the month of November.
Missouri also hosted multiple underclassmen last weekend, we've got updates on some of those below
