FOOTBALL RECRUITING
After not having a big visit list for the season opener because the game was on Thursday, Missouri should have a lot of prospects on hand Saturday night. We’ve been told somewhere between 20 and 30 players will likely be in town for the game. Not all of these are necessarily top level targets. Here are the headliners expected:
The top player in the state and Mizzou commit will be back on campus for the first time since his official visit. He will be joined by quite a few other Mizzou commits
The list will also include a couple of big-time 2025 prospects
Mosley has a baker’s dozen reported offers including Auburn, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. He has taken previous unofficial visits to Alabama, Notre Dame and Middle Tennessee.
Mozee is a teammate of Nwaneri’s and the son of Lee’s Summit North head coach Isaiah Mozee. He is making, by our count, his seventh unofficial trip to Columbia. Oklahoma is widely considered the favorite to land Mozee. There is some historic precedent for Missouri landing a kid like that.
PowerMizzou.com will be on the road tonight. Sean Williams is headed to St. Louis for the big showdown between CBC and SLUH. The game is at SLUH at 6 p.m. The big attraction is obviously Ryan Wingo, whose top two of Mizzou and Texas seems to be holding steady. Who leads depends on who you talk to and on which day you talk to them. What we've heard recently is that the Longhorns may have a slight advantage at this point in time. Again, that could change in a month, it could change in a week, it could change in an hour. Just passing on the latest buzz. There's been a lot of speculation Wingo could move his commitment date up. If that happens, it's good news for Missouri. It hasn't happened yet. Wingo is expected to be in Austin next weekend for Texas' game against Wyoming.
Obviously on the other side of the ball, Jeremiah McClellan is an Ohio State commit but we’ll monitor the process with him throughout the fall. We don’t think the chances of a flip are high, but we aren’t ruling it out. There are also some underclassmen that will be of interest, including Corey Simms, who we wrote about earlier this week. It is expected that Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz and wide receivers coach Jacob Peeler will be at the game as well. Sean will keep you updated on the action tonight and you can look for a full writeup in the coming days.
- Missouri extended a new 2024 offer to Dominic Steward on Thursday, an offensive tackle out of Westlake (Ga.). He is currently committed to Troy, but said he's been communicating with Missouri's staff since May. He just released film from his first three games and Missouri OL coach Brandon Jones extended an offer. Since he's already familiar with Mizzou's staff, Steward said he's planning to visit Columbia for either the LSU or Tennessee game this season.
Other power five programs are keeping an eye on Steward as well. He noted South Carolina, Clemson, UCF, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Miss. State, and Georgia Tech as others that could possibly jump in with offers as well.
BASKETBALL RECRUITING
One of the three current Mizzou commits will be in town for his second official visit this weekend.
Allen took an official to Mizzou last September and committed to the Tigers in August. He’ll be back for his senior year official visit this weekend and will get the red carpet treatment from the Tiger staff. In fact, it appears he arrived on Thursday so he may not be sticking around for the football game.
Rather than becoming clearer, the picture just continues to expand for Mizzou in the 2024 class. We originally forecast a 3-4 man class, then updated that to five because we are 100% confident Mizzou would accept commitments from Annor Boateng (two more visits left before an early October-ish decision is expected) and Jayden Quaintance (visits Mizzou in two weeks, Kentucky in mid-October and was visiting G-League Ignite earlier this wee). We believe Missouri is the leader for Boateng. It’s tougher to say with Quaintance. We’d forecast Ignite as the toughest competition for the Tigers, but you can never write off Kentucky and John Calipari (he’ll also visit Ohio State and Cincinnati).
However, Missouri is still bringing in plenty of other players.
Burns visited last weekend. Drew King caught up with him after the trip. We think Missouri would take him, but we’re not sure it would do so immediately.
McCarty, from the same home town as Kobe and Kaleb Brown, will be in town next weekend for an official visit. It’s honestly a little tough to see him being a take right now, especially if they add Boateng, but we aren’t writing off any possibilities at this point.
Boswell has Missouri in his top six and his head coach tweeted that Dennis Gates would be among the coaches in to see him next week. Xavier and Tennessee are also expected to be in. He took an OV over the summer.

Sutton is expected to visit October 11. Again, we don’t really see him as a take at this point, but as long as the visit is planned, you can’t say for sure he isn’t.

Jones will be in town for Mizzou Madness the weekend of October 6th. We kind of wonder if this depends a little on what Quaintance does.

The 2025 prospect is also supposed to visit October 6th.

Rowe was on campus for the opener against South Dakota last week. Not a big shock. As a Columbia native, he’ll probably be here a lot. Anytime he wants to come to campus, the coaching staff will be happy to have him.
How many of these guys can Missouri take? At this point, we’re done trying to guess. Every time we cap the class, more visits get added and we have to amend what we’re thinking. It’s clear Dennis Gates chases everyone he wants and worries about the numbers later. It will work out. How, to be honest, we aren’t sure at this point in time.
