It’s obvious that Odom made 3 mind numbing mistakes that cost us the game on Okie lite’s first possession.
1) when coaching TBJ he did a fine job in teaching the strip sack on the qb.
Unfortunately Odom did not train others in the area to recover the ball. Thus the well trained OSU dude grabbed the ball. Shameful!
2) when coaching the dbs obviously Odom did not prepare them to focus and execute making an interception early in the game. “Comrade” Hilton who had two much tougher picks later in the game muffed a third on that first series that would have ended the OSU march to to a td. Odom had never successfully taught the dbs to catch theball this early in the game, Certainly a firing offense !
3). Odom in a total breakdown of coaching on that same first possession, left his db totally unprepared for the Cowboy in the white shirt executing a pick to free up the reciever for a touchdown. Another careless mistake of our coach leaving our player unprepared. A reason to fire the whole lot.
Any one of those situations played properly by a well coached team would have been a game changer. Three opportunities in that one series of pooly prepared defensive players that had a huge impact on outcome of game.
Seriously it shows that the ebb and flow of a footballgame and indeed the outcome can be determined by many happenings along the way.
If any of the three above would have went Mizxou’s way it is very likely Mizzou wins. If the field goal wasn’t blocked...
Now we act like “I am a man I am forty” ,outcoached Odom and that was key. You see pro teams every week, trying to milk the clock to score with little time left so the team you have been in a high scoring match with doesn’t have time to mount a drive and win. Yesterday’s game was just that kind of game. Had Lock went 7 yards instead of 6, none of this grousing would be going on. Then the OSU crowd would have been bitching about that fake punt they tried deep in their end. That was a stumper. Yet there is iwould bet not one cowboy fan obsessing over it this morning.
It was a great game. Lock far outplayed their qb, but they connected in a timely fashion. We didn’t get the break we needed. Indeed in all sincerity there were 3 game changing opportunities that we didn’t capitalize on in that first possession of OSU. Sometimes you just don’t get the breaks.
I’m excited for next year and can’t wait to see how it turns out..with this same coaching staff.
