It's actually got a little more validity than I thought. KenPom ranks the experience of every team, based on how much D1 basketball each player has played.
Missouri ranks 260th in the country in experience with an average of 1.43 years. So that's low. BUT, the D1 average is 1.68 years. So really, even though they're 260th, they average about eight games less per player than the average D1 team. Sure, they're somewhat young. But college basketball is a young sport.
Parker Braun has played 9.6% of the possessions. Mario McKinney has played 10.4% of the possessions. Tray Jackson has played 17%. Axel Okongo has played about 60 seconds. Take out those four and Missouri's experience would be a bit more than it is, probably closer to average or maybe even slightly above.
I'll buy that they're a bit young...but I don't think they're so young that it is a valid reason for why they're having the season they're having so far.
