I'll start by saying this is not inside information. . Only from what I watched the last 3 years of game tape only . This is not an advocate for some people to play. . This is not to put anybody down. . Only an observation and opinion. . From someone who coached the game played the game and watch the game. . So I'll try to answer some of the questions people have been asking on this board . . Of why the passing game is struggling ???
QB: Is Drew Lock good?? Most would say No. . Is Drew Lock bad a bad QB?? . . No. . Most have said Yes. . True answer . . We don't know, and we may never know !!!. . Well why ?? (Explain yourself). . Ok
A QB's greatest weapon on the field is not their arm, feet or the pre snap read. . It's their EYES !!!. . Their eyes allow them to move safeties or disguise who they would want to throw the ball to. . Well Lock doesn't have that weapon in his arsenal to use !!!. .
Let talk footbal . . On field analogy from one play: It's 3rd & 7 Mizzou is on a 2x2 set. . From left to right. . WR1 runs a fly. . WR2 runs a 7 yard out. . WR3 runs a 7 yard stop route. . WR4 does nothing!!!. . (We've all seen this before so this is not inside information). . Well the only route concept is to Drew left. . This is the reasons for him STARING at WR !!!!. . There in no route concept on the other side (where him EYES should be to start the play). . Therefore, he never had an opportunity to use its best weapon !!!. . There in one more thing Drew is lacking . . And that's CONFIDENCE but I'll get to that in a minute. .
WR: They are definitely the most athletic wide receivers in the SEC. . And May have an agruement to being the most athletic receivers in the nation. . So what the issue??. . Well they are athletes playing receiver. . And not WR that are athletic !!!. . What you mean by that ???
WR use their HANDS to catch a ball. . Athletes that play receiver use their BODY to catch the ball. . Look at the tape !!. . Every catch has been with their BODY !!!. . Also they are having trouble reading defences. . Back to Lock: this is where I think he lacks confidence. . On every throw he knows he has to put the ball on WR BODY to have a chance for them to catch it. . Do you know how hard it is to do that on every throw. .
On field analysis: Let go back to our play ( they showed an up top coaches angle for this play). . The defence was a cover 2. . Perfect the route concept can beat this and Drew looks reads correctly. . No way you can throw into the CB on WR2 out route. . WR1 should have ran a cover 2 sideline beater. . But WR1 didn't read the coverage and ran his route into the safety. . Now there no where to go. . Drew rolls right. . No route concept on that side. . Scramble drill !!!. . Run out of bounds. .
TE: By far the TE catch the ball the best . . Yes all 3. . Why cant we get them the ball??. . Simple its coverage !!!. . Most teams are running 3 coverage against Mizzou. . Cover 2, 3 & 4. . Rarely do they see straight man . . If so, there's a Blitz involved by the defense. . How do we get them involved???. . I don't know !!!. . Seam route are ran into the rolling safety after the read the route concept. . The out route is covered by coverage. .
