Gabe and Mizzouman (Sidenote: how great is it that Mizzou basketball is relevant again and Mizzouman posts more frequently?) reporting the possibility that MPJ returns made me think of reasons it could be beneficial to him. I already think it's obvious Jontay should stay for the high probability of enhancing his draft slot and the correlated higher rookie salary. While it's tough for MPJ to enhance his draft slot, there could be big money gains through endorsements which can often pay off as much or more than salary.
We are all numb to 1 and dones who have a good year in college, get drafted and do well in the NBA. As dreamlaw pointed out in another thread, St Louis native Jason Tatum has done well, nice kid, good looking and is relegated to pimping IMOs pizza in St Louis because he is one of many with no unique story.
If the Porters would both come back there would be multiple reasons the media and America would eat it up:

If the Porters would both come back there would be multiple reasons the media and America would eat it up:
- Both turned down the immediate $ of the NBA with 1st round opportunities
- Michael overcame injury
- Easier to be stars in the NCAA than the NBA and distinguish themselves.
- Next year's NCAA isn't expected to have as many stars
- The entire team would be a pretty high profile team with possible national recognition
- Helping a non power like Mizzou become prominent would be a feel good story
- They are both great kids, great looking who fit the profile for endorsements
- A good NCAA year could lead to immediate endorsements once declaring before having to succeed in the NBA and NBA success may not happen then nor would great endorsements.
