KU blatantly cheats and says "I dare you to come after us". No one does and they win an NCAA touney. 5 years ago we thought, finally the death penalty or heavy sanction will befall them, because literally no one took this approach. We assumed history would continue its pattern of being perfectly consistent on this point (offenders that get caught and found guilty were punished). It is no longer and was not the case.

Trump admits to sleeping with a Playboy bunny, a pornstar and admits infidelty in all of his marriages in addition to being found guilty of sexual assault, and admitting on tape to being able to grab woman by the genitalia...previous to that no one thinks that makes someone electable. Instead, Trumps secures the endorsment of the evangelicals among others and sweeps into office. Even he thought he was going to lose and told Melania as much on election night. Him winning made zero sense, given history. It's like Trump said in his post election victory speech "We did well with the poorly educated. We love the poorly educated" - - I am sure he does. He literally said he got the support of the dumbest people in America. It's on video, he relishes that fact, like the joke is on you America.

Both groups took a big risk by admitting and doing things that never before lead to a positive outcome. They felt like apathy or indiffence or self interest would be more important. Is Trump a liar and a criminal. Of course he is, but do his racist tendancies and blatant self interest in making the rich richer, appeal to you more than whether him sexually assaulting someone? Of course it does, and this is how he courted those who voted for him. It is like his supporters saying, I don't care if he beats and rapes women, keep out the immigrants and reduce my taxes and we are good to go. Or, so what if he literally tried to subvert 250 years of democracy, as long as long he can stock the supreme court to flip Roe v. Wade eventhough 65% of the country is pro choice I am good with that. Self interest. Trump puts himself ahead of what is best for the country. And his supporters do it too. What is best for one and not the many.
