First off, if it matters I guess I should say that I did support hiring Coach Odom...at least, once I realized that we weren't getting Tom Herman. I like Odom, I still have confidence that he can win and maybe win big here but I'm getting confused (and a little annoyed) when he keeps referring to our lack of talent. Is our talent that bad? I realize it's not elite and maybe not even good but I refuse to believe it's 2-7 bad. I'm one that doesn't put as much stock into recruiting rankings as others; I think it's obvious that teams that recruit in the top 5 or so annually have more talent than those that dont but beyond that it's about developing guys and coaching. I'm willing to give him a leash on first year coach mistakes but when he constantly talks about how we're shorthanded right now I guess I want to know what he plans on doing to fix that? Does he think we're gonna have a top 10 class? It's fine to bust your ass for elite talent but the reality is that our good years we get in the 20s in these rankings; Mizzou is (at least for the forseeable future) going to have to be a program that gets as many good in-state kids as we can, land a handful of out of state contested kids and then get some under the radar kids that we see something in (eg: Mason) and devlelop them and coach them.
